You have to be kidding.

To defend Scott you are now throwing our great 2007-11 sides under the bus? This Richmond side would get destroyed by the 07, 09, or 11 teams.

But to you the Richmond team are now a behometh and even the great Scott brilliantly coaching of a cobbled together rag-tag Geelong team today cannot withstand their destiny?

Excuse me while I pick myself from the floor from laughing. According to you in another post it was all Hawkins fault. Hawkins in, and this cobbled together crap list that is Geelong beats them. But the next minute, Richmond are one of the great teams and no-one to stop them. This is hilarious.
Richmond are currently undefeated since the bye. Clearly an exceptional team this year.
Why you jealously bring up the 07-11 team is irrelevant.
The Tigers are in the midst of their own dynasty IF they win next week. I will be very happy if they don't.
And denying the absence of Hawkins as a significant factor is hopefully not on your agenda.

Bookmark it. I’m certain it will happen.

Richmond will be carrying a lot of sore players from last night and a couple of likely outs (Graham and Broad). Never ideal to make unforced changes in GF week.

On top of that Collingwood has well and truly figured out how to beat them with 2 huge wins in their last 3 games. Richmond beat them late in the season when Pies were missing half a dozen of their best team.
Pies have not even played yet. They lose 2 players every time they play. I rate them but they have a lot to do.

The questions he was asked by the journos were dead set s**t though. Not one was useful or had any way of helping us fans understand why certain decisions were made.
I think most of them would’ve been worried about getting their head bitten off by Scott. Tom browne in particular seemed intimidated and he generally asks 70% of the questions

Tigers are very good -happy to give you that-but not in the same league as the 2007 geelong team.

As much as it pains me to say they aren’t too far away from it, can’t see them falling off a cliff next year either.

They will be up there for a few years to come.
They aren’t too far away in terms of sliver ware -yep, but the calibre of their team isn’t near that Geelong team for mine.
Let’s see how they go-will be watching. They are good to watch after all.
People say this richmond team will be there for years but stuff happens and it rarely eventuates-if they do stay up there for a few more years - well, I will reassess.

Irrelevant in some ways.
I suppose we are all Geelong supporters so discussing the strength of an opposition team should be off limits.
But it is important in defending where we are at currently.

So now its irrelevant. Now you are backing away from that claim?

I'm not jealously defending it. Its a fact. If you say Richmond are one of the great teams of recent times, then obviously you are comparing them to that side. Player for player, down the list, they aren't close.

No one player can win or lose a game. Has Gary Ablett Snr taught you nothing? Or Gazza Jnr leaving in 2010? Hawkins did not cost us the game last night. Collingwood beat us without De Goey for most of the night.

A lame Danger is worth more than most players we have. He may have hurt himself during the game. Do you suggest he just stays off the ground? It was interesting the speculation about who would come in for Hawkins and the absolute lack of anybody of true quality. Hendo was not a popular choice on this board, yet a pretty logical one. We are just not a deep list any more.
I have no qualms in saying Dusty is a superior overall player to Danger, and I am a big Danger fan. He is our best by a long way, but falls short.

No he isn't. The game doesn't allow it. Half fit players can not replace fully fit players, no matter who they are. Richmond tried it with Martin in the Prelim last year and he got exposed. The game is far too demanding now and has been for decades. We saw it with Ablett senior in 1991.

To your previous question, about how many BOGs Dangerfield can produce, do you think he was BOG last week? He played a terrific last quarter but wasn't close to the best player on the ground.

As for Henderson, I could live with him coming in, but to play in defence. Even Taylor would have been a better forward option. Henderson hasn't played as a regular forward in years and it showed.

As will we.

People are disappointed and angry after the loss right now, and as is expected will see the team through black coloured glasses for a while. A couple of retirements may well do us good, give us a bit more speed and force some changes to the game plan. We have a good list, one I would argue is better than Richmond's, however they use theirs better at the moment and their game plan plays to their strengths.

The coaching staff need to do a re-jig of the game plan over the off season, that much is clear (to us, and hopefully to them). We were better than we were last year. With another pre-season into the young players, and the experience they gained this season, plus some changes to the game plan, I expect we'll be better again next year.

Partially because they have a solid and even list that they have developed over a decade.

Wonder where they got that idea from?

Even when we were dominating and held a 21pt lead at HT, the Richmond fans around us remained super calm and not really fussed, like they knew they would come back and win, and they did!
Was interesting wasn’t it? I even commented on it to my companions at half time. Just as I was starting to contemplate that we might pull it off, I noticed how Richmond fans looked so relaxed, and I must admit it started to niggle at me then. The confidence of knowing your team always wins-haha.

Of course. Players can and do win games btw, but I agree with the concept over a 120 minute game. Richmond was always going to win last night being the superior team. Have said that all second half of this year.'My claim is we may be looking at them as an all-time great team as well, but they will need to win next week. I am defending our loss. We are a good team. BUT... Richmond has been strengthened by Lynch and should be a force for several years, and if they are up to winning flags, will be highly regarded. We are not in that league.
Just like Hawthorn 13, 14, 15 - surely an all time great team, even if we hate that.

At the start of the year we would have been happy with a top 4 finish, and a prelim. Our list is thin, and lacks depth. We heavily rely on our top 6 players.

Our recruiting is not questioned yet we are happy to throw our coaching team under a bus. When we win its all Scarlo, when we lose its all Scott. Our coaching team has been rotated as Scarlo and Enright are in there. Lloyd has come in as well.

Last night the tigers were simply too good. For all the blood letting for Blitz on Lynch watch the game. Lynch was super because of super fast ball movement. No-one would have had the opportunity to out mark him or spoil him in nearly all of those contests. What Lynch does well is he has his opponent under the ball with HANDS IN BACK and moves their position and can then lean over the top.

What Richmond has done well is to bring in talent whilst on top without losing a top quality player. Geelong lost Ablett and the Hawks Buddy. Our dynasty was affected by the decision of Ablett, and the tigers were able to add Lynch.

So when everyone is laying into a coach who has kept an average list in the finals, think about whether you want this experience or be Melbourne. Our list is not great, and yet we have a good coach. We simply sit here and take great delight in potting him. The mighty hawks are where? Are the Hawks potting him?

If Geelong supporters were rational they need to consider the 'TRUCK' writing copious amount of shit to get Hawkins suspended. Yes his act was stupid. So too was Bashers. And Basher has a history of behind play gutless acts. His act was HIGH, INTENTIONAL, and LOW IMPACT therefore a week. But i have not seen 40 replays or copious amounts of print. This is what annoys me. All that happended was Miers was allowed to be ridiculed, inc by Cameron Ling. Tigers were allowed to continue to hit into him. Seriously we need to look after our own. I dont care if Houli plays or not, but his hit had more impact/force than Green.

And look at our recuiting. Last night we needed another tough mid. The thorpedo would have been perfect. We recruit the nice kids.

TRADE FAILURES
- Varcoe for mitch massive fail
- Caddy for parfitt fail

RECRUIT FAILURES
- thurlow
- lang
- smedts
- cockatoo

what we have not done is had some wins with early draft picks. kelly has disguised our poor recruiting

2e was an overpay
henderson was overpaid for
and we are the only ones who cant work out free agency and paid for danger

wells needs to stop being the good guy

Indeed. For Tom Browne and others, I'll give you a head start:

1. Having finally found a position for Blicavs as a key defender, and with Tom Lynch killing us, why didn't you play him there?
2. Why did you move Dangerfield forward at the start of the third quarter, when he was playing well in midfield?
3. Why did you not play Blicavs in defence for the ENTIRE FINALS SERIES?
4. Why didn't you try Taylor forward which would have allowed Henderson to play in defence where he is far more comfortable?
5. Given that you specifically recruited Zac Smith and Scott Selwood, why weren't either selected during the finals and what are their futures?
6. We recruited Gary Rohan, a player known for having injury issues and disappearing in finals. He ticked both those boxes this September. Was recruiting him a mistake?

Easy.
