You were in it or did you give up after round 6?
How’s chook these days? I guess I predicted that incorrectly too? Let it go godfather!
I'm concerned with your constant negativity.

I tipped the cats for the cup after about round 16-17. That’s positive. Most didn’t ! When we lose I don’t say it’s expected I say we flopped because I believe we could get it done. It’s not negative. As for our list does anyone seriously think we will get 12 top 4 finishes in the next 15? The reset is coming . We will go down the ladder. It’s the reality of the competition. Success is cyclical.
It’s not negative it’s very realistic. If others live in fantasy land then good for them.

Been hearing that since 2010. If you look at our current player contracts, the list has been managed to phase out 3-5 older blokes each year for the next four seasons, ending with Cuthrie and Cameron in 2025. There's no need for us to fall off a cliff, and I don't suspect we will.

Fair enough mate.

You've gotta be f*cking kidding me...

This piece of sh*t shouldn't be anywhere near our club - let alone the detrimental influence he'd have on our gamestyle to make it even more defensive than it already is.

F*cks sake.
🤣🤣🤣 post season melts are the best

Your always Negative, need to ralax
And be positive.

Bring in Ross the boss! I like it! Hard edge and very opinionated. I like it. Kelly and Betts have training wheels on. Get in the boss!

Stop with the fake positive sarcasm.

Roughly..id be trying for example say 27 and 55 for 32 and 34 as 55 will end up mid to late 40s after bids anyway..you could do a similar type of deal for 23 if we wanted that.
Pies have more than enough points, if I had to guess I would say they would be looking for futures with pick 27. A next years R2 or something like pick 34 and a future 3rd, which I would consider (but your only looking at a slight pick upgrade in such an unknown point of the draft not sure it makes a lot of sense. Do we need another pick in the 27 - 32 range? Pick 23 seems like a better target for mine. Someone like Ess would probably try and trade into the draft at 27 for a future 2nd and maybe a later 2021 selection.

I'd rather Dogs pick 23 for 32 & 50 just to get in front of picks by the Tigers x2 Crows Eagles Blues Hawks (5 teams/6 picks)
For me I would rather hold pick 50 (to be 45ish on draft night) if we want to make 5 selections and trade 32 and FR3 for 23. Dogs would be a couple of hundred points short if bid come at pick 2 but ok if bid at pick 3.

Lyon would be a great get.
Agree. He's a great coach and yes, he had a defensive plan for St Kilda and Freo, but he is also considered to be a master-coach and no doubt has been analysing what is currently the trend and considering how it could be beaten. I'd be very happy if he was part of the coaching team.

Me too.. actually 50 could come all the way into 41-42 depending on how things fall.

So you knew we'd be without Stewart Parfitt & MOC and Danger with a broken thumb/ligaments... and still thought we'd win it?
Brilliant!! lol.
What was that Forrest Gump saying again??
Cheers Bud.
I Enjoy your rantings, ramblings and opinions.
Don't see them the same way but they do make my eyes open up a little wider.

He's available as a DFA but I think our preference would be to rookie him so that we have more options with our senior list. There are a few mature KPD options, so I don't think it will be all that competitive to sign these guys.

There's likely too much interest in him to get him as a rookie. Somebody would almost certainly pick him up in the main draft. We can leave Atkins and Close as rookies so I don't think there's a problem bringing him in on the main list.

Isn’t Simon Lloyd already in that role?

Lloyd is GM of football but director of coaching is a specific role to manage the coaches..some clubs split the role ie at melbourne mahoney is the football GM and richo the coaching director

Pretty sure players can only spend two years on the rookie list, to a maximum of three if they meet certain requirements, and have to be delisted and re-rookied if the club doesn't want to elevate them.

No they can spend up to four (covid rule change this year) as a rookie otherwise we would have to elevate atkins now.

Agreed..i think we will have to main list him to get him and i would do that.

Mmm you'd want to be careful with leaving Close as a rookie - as a lot of clubs would be interested in him after his year this year, I'd say. If anyone offers him a senior spot, he can just walk.

With that said, the biggest thing any club needs to do if they want a player on the rookie list, is to get them to publicly commit to you prior to the draft. If another club knows that the player wants to get to a certain club (like players getting re-rookied for example), then they'll never cut another club's lunch as the player has nominated their preference.

If he says 'I don't care where I go', then that's when you sign him as a DFA - as another club (Richmond for example), can just take him at any time.

For mine, I'm in the 'take him as a DFA if he wants us' camp, as Knightmare had him as high as 16th in the draft rankings in August, and has him as one of the best key defenders available in the draft - along with Gibcus and Alleer.

Picking up one of the best small forwards and one of the best key defenders, outside of the draft pool (Stengle and Schlensog), would be an absolute steal if we could do it.

where is this coming from?? is there actual serious discussion that we are keen to bring him on board?

I think its all idle speculation...but hey, apart from Scott bashing not much else going on...

Draft speculation notwithstanding....
