I’ll defer to others with more knowledge of player talent scouting but the statistician in me is pretty confident that’s an unlikely outcome.Very easy to see us trading out a future Charlie Curnow or Sam Weitering in Caddy or O'Sullivan
Not sure where you have read this, but I think you will find it’s all scuttlebuttsuprised smith wants out to hawks.... did we not pursue him???? would have been ideal for us.
North-west youngster Geordie Payne a draft hope after meeting with AFL clubs
The likes of Colby McKercher and Ryley Sanders are getting plenty of hype, but an “unassuming” AFL draft hope from the Tasmania’s North-West has attracted interest from at least three clubs.

Wynyard product Geordie Payne’s shift to half-back this season has him firming as an AFL Draft hope, with three clubs travelling to Tasmania to meet with the highly skilled youngster.
Determined to prove a point after he was overlooked for the National Draft Combine, Payne put up impressive numbers in testing at the State Combine in Melbourne on Sunday.
Payne, who turns 18 next month, has had discussions with Adelaide - whose recruiting manager Hamish Ogilvie is a former Tassie Mariners coach – as well as Geelong and Sydney.
He began his football career as a forward, but Wynyard Cats coach Beau Sharman believed he had the attributes to be a gun half-back.
His testing numbers at the state combine backed that up. He finished equal second in vertical jump (72cm), equal fifth in running vertical jump (86cm), third in agility (8.34 secs) and third in 20 metre sprint (2.981 secs).
“He showed some really good talent as a forward, but over time we thought he had the qualities of a decent half-back flanker,” Sharman said.
“We tried him there early last year and he’s never really looked back. The half-back line for the Devils program (including Carlton draftee Lachie Cowan) was pretty hard to get into. “There was no doubting his talent there, and my constant hounding with a couple of coaches there helped get him a start at half-back.
“The way he covers the ground as well as his ability to read the play makes him a great halfback flanker.”
AFL club’s interest in Payne has been strong enough for them to jump on a plane to meet him.
“He’s had a few meetings with clubs. We’ve lost him a few times for training to drive to Launceston to meet with a couple of clubs,” Sharman said.
“I think Adelaide are pretty interested in him, and Sydney and Geelong have come down and met with Geordie.
“Adelaide’s had a few guys from Tassie go there. He (Ogilvie) always keeps an eye on the Tassie guys, hopefully he can look after one more.”
Sharman said being overlooked for the top Draft Combine spurred Payne on, who produced some brilliant football in the back half of the year.
“I was very surprised when he wasn’t in the initial combine, and disappointed for him,” Sharman said.
“I think he felt that as well, but over the next few weeks he just put his mind to playing well, and he played some really good footy which smashed down the door.
“He’s trained really hard the last month and got himself in good condition to compete at the combine and do really well. I’m pretty proud of him really.
“He’s pretty unassuming, not too much worries him. He’s a confident kid but not arrogant, always willing to listen and learn, which is one of his great strengths.”
Launceston key defender Arie Schoenmaker also shone at the national combine. Known for his superb long left boot, Schoenmaker’s 6:25 2km time trial impressed onlookers.
Leading northern talents Colby McKercher, Ryley Sanders and James Leake all didn’t test.

Be careful what you wish for
It’s so strange
Geelong likely to do nothing, talk of splitting 8 for two picks in the teens but unlikelyWhat was Cal Twomey's take on Geelong's trade period on trade radio this morning. I am at work and cannot listen in.

Were one of 5 clubs interested in Oliver and had interest in Smith but not happening this year.
Happy with our draft hand
The snippet is on the afl website in the live trade blog

Why would either team want to trade now though?According to our 'ITK' posters on our board sounds like a trade for pick 8 going down tomorrow or the day after involving our 2024 F1. Super keen on Caddy supposedly.
I agree on most of that. Only thing I can think of is if you're keen on making a few moves before trade period ends and want some picks to move now rather than on draft nightWhy would either team want to trade now though?
If you are keen on Caddy, why not wait until draft night to see if he is still actually available?
likewise, if we are keen on sanders (or anyone else), why not wait to see if he is available before committing to a trade out?
I'm not saying it's a completely unreasonable trade, but I can't see the logic for either team to make it now instead of on draft night.
Talking to a few people i know in the West.
Two Subiaco blokes in conversations with peeps from G Town.
One we know in Tholstrup... the other Luke Kentfield.
KT IMO is a GUN.
But. Whats the goss of the latter ??
All i know is he played senior WAFL this year as a 17 yo.
Kentfeild sounds like a made up name .
Mark and grab player. Strong mark.
KT bringing back the curls we haven't seen since Buddha. I am 100% in on this, saw some highlights from his midfiled time and looks a serious talent!Talking to a few people i know in the West.

We a re not winning a flag next yearYou can't have it both ways. The club has been lectured by many on here to play some kids through the midfield, and that's exactly what they're going to do.
Holmes & Bruhn are best 23 already, and all of Clark, Knevitt & Dempsey will be up around 15 games next year. Particularly Dempsey, who has a real opportunity over the summer to take Isaac Smith's vacant wing/half forward position.
Sanders, Wilson or Curtain (Very unlikely, but you never know) will run through there too if we pick them up.
If it helps us win a premiership next year then that is awesome, and we'll all be over the moon...but that group's development and goal will be about winning another flag in 2-6 years.
It seems like a long window, and it is, but we haven't done this in a long time. We haven't had a group of kids coming through who will grow and develop together, and have multiple opportunities at winning a premiership.
It's not longer "Gee, we better win it this year or I don't know where we're going to end up" - Which whether true or not, was the narrative spun for much of the last 10 years.

He is a ripper.
Has x factor. Big moment player. Tuff as nails.
Kicks goals. Has speed, a motor and athleticism in spades.
Played WAFL seniors.
He'll be there at pick 9-10 as long as Wet Toast don't trade back in some major twist.
Said we will go to the draft and that’s our lot this year…What was Cal Twomey's take on Geelong's trade period on trade radio this morning. I am at work and cannot listen in.
8 is too early for koltyn and 30s is too late.
I think he will go late r1 but we dont have a pick in that range
