As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

I hope not
If the gold coast is going to have more picks than they need or are allowed to use, we could try and get them. Maybe we shouldn't have traded 4 picks for pick 25 last year or whatever we did.
Also last year's trade for Bowes was so ridiculous, I am sure some Bad Karma comes our way, if it hasn't already.

Gold Coast need points - so they’ll likely be looking to bulk trade some later picks (like 4th round & beyond) into some earlier picks, such as late 2nd or 3rd round picks

And if they trade their 1st round pick, they’d likely be looking at a future first & then picks/points for this years draft. Pick 8 this year is basically useless to them as it will just get eaten up in points on academy bids

As for last years trade we did in trading out our 2023 2nd, 3rd & 4th round pick for a single 2022 pick - it’s one we need to not look at in isolation but in regards to our trade period as a whole. Maybe we could or should have kept our future 4th pick, but making the trade as we did meant that other teams wouldn’t be able to touch our remaining future picks & if they wanted to do a deal in 2022, it would be with the picks we have available for the 2022 draft

Zerk Thatcher is apparently gettable. I'd be very keen on getting him. We're thin for tall defenders assuming Sav goes and he looked like he had stepped up massively early this year.

He will go back to SA imo.

Ah this is the post I was looming for.

Apparently Essendon have thrown down big dollars to McKay, enough to get North band 1 compo. Ergo, no huge need for Sav.

That may hint at Parish being gone, too.

If they are taking mckay then parish is either signing or they are matching and forcing a trade because it would cancel the compo otherwise.

Melbourne are trying to get Harley Reid.

Would they take our pick 7/8 for 15 and 24 and use 5 and 7/8 as well as a F1 to get the #1 pick?

It's something Nth would think about if they received pick 2 for McKay.

Melb are no chance north arent trading 1.

Even though we are more than 3 months from the draft, who are the most likely to be available around picks 7-10. I've seen a little bit of Caddy and he looks a player but I don't really know of any others.
Osullivan (maybe)
Caddy
Wilson
Edwards
Archer Reid
Murphy
Demattia
Delean
Are probably your main group

This is assuming gc wouldnt pass on read or rogers and that dogs match croft bc all of them are in that 6-20 bracket

Guys like clay hall, hardeman, freijah, tholstrup, sanchez, stevens, cleary etc are that r2 bracket.

Ahhhh yes, good point.

I figured he'd be going because of lack of funds for him, but yeah forced trade.

Or perhaps McKay coming helps sell the dream to Parish.

Yeah its called "one of the worst title defenses in league history".

Talk on the Essendon board is they'll just trade for McKay if that's the case. Second round pick should get it done.

If we're getting Parish, the compo will be better than whatever we offer. They won't risk 2 top 10 picks for a good ordinary player like McKay.

Plus, it means Norf don't get to benefit of the back of incompetence, so we'd both be doing the whole league a favour.

I’ll play your stubborn game mate
I agree the GC NGA are off the table
But if north get priority access from the afl for Sanders that’s a kid who’s meant to be on the open market
If Mckay leaves and gets band 1 aswell as Parish there’s another 2
So our pick 8 gets us the 11th best kid on the market
You talk about losing brain cells, I’ve got a migraine explaining this
the quality simply drops off

Just found the spacing of these articles pretty funny. I mean seriously, three weeks is all it took?

We've spoken a lot this year about media coverage of our trade targets, and headlines like this prove you really can't listen to anything until they've signed on the dotted line.

Being in the media would have to be best job in the world in regards to performance. Literally just say anything, nobody's going to remember anyway.

If Mckay is leaving NM, we should offer NM our Pick 7 + Esava + F3 for Pick 1! Then get Harley Reid.

Firstly Sav picks his destination. Then Our P7 and our Fr3 will be well under some offers. Irrelevant as I cant see north trading #1..... the hard part for North will be like the JHF situation. Reid will be walking into a club thats is going thru some hard years.... can they keep all the kids happy.

I think they miss out on McKay if they do not pay upand get him as a FA. Its probable that he ends up elsewhere.

In the end ..would it really surprise if a way was found to get it done.

Bad Karma? Why? Its not like we held a gun to anyones head. It was GC who wanted and had to clear money.
