As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

Is it fair to say the Clark and Clohesy gave Hewett and Ginbey a touch up in the Vic Country match vs WA?
Indeed. It's fair to say that Clohesy is really going under the radar...as is Northam. If we land all 3 locals plus Riccardi and Mullin, it will be a ridiculous draft period...on top of an already insane trade period

I've had a crazy past week or so at work and didn't realise how far it had jumped ahead until staring at the page numbers tonight - it does feel that this is the biggest trade & draft discussion we've had for a while
I just finished 21 days straight = ive been around a bit but not playing close attention.... PT3.... geez thats a lot of chat about anyhting

GO Catters

Well if I could build our 22 with some cloning

FB Stewart De Koning Stewart
HB Duncan Blicavs Stewart
C Holmes Dangerfield Smith
HF Duncan Cameron Close
FF Cameron Hawkins Stengle
Fol Stanley Guthrie Blicavs
Int Tuohy Dangerfield Guthrie Stengle

Could we also have a Hawkins backup to cover the next 15-16 years as well, please?

Not sure what to make of Tsatas. He seems to have the speed to play that inside/outside role, but I get a bit of Constable vibes, in some regards he can rack them up, but not necessarily hurt the opposition. He often gets on the back of several handpass movements, and its where he can rack them up in succession. I mean, he is a lot better than Constable. Not against him as a selection, but something I can't work out. I bet if Tsatas, Clark or Ginbey are available it will be down to Clark or Ginbey, and most likely Clark just being the local kid in the end. Ginbey might be the type we need on our list though given the lack of outside types in next gen tbh.

Constable wasn't an effective player because he had zero wheels.

I was all over him being one of the least damaging players I'd seen when many were shouting out for him to be a regular (they caught on eventually).

People will probably think of me as a glass-half-empty guy because of the way I'm not all unicorns and rainbows about certain players.

Tsatas is all wheels and is far more damaging than "minus meters gained in multiple games" Constable.

He seems like a very high meters-gained player to me... Is he the perfect player? No, he has plenty to work with.

I'd happily take him and hope we do (might be gone anyway).. but I will say that he isn't overly keen on physical contact.

I'd like to see his disposal fixed up quite a bit more if he is to become say a gun outside type... I mean there is something to work with for sure, but I reckon Gibney, Phillipou, Clark and McKenzie seem to have more hurt factor as they seem to be a bit cleaner with ball usage. I even say Clark, because he seems to hit his targets a bit better. I'll say one thing with Clark, he is very tenacious, and that you can't teach. You either have it or don't I reckon. I know Clark is smallish, but he does kick long for his height. I wouldn't say he's a stumpy 180cm type either, as he has those longer limbs for his height. Some people instantly dismiss players based on height, but you also have to look at their wing/handspan reach too. I mean, I'll back the club in their decision if its any of those players or Busslinger. Allan could be the wildcard, but he does look very similar in type as Knevitt, almost the same.

I worry that like toumpas his lack of contested game wont translate well to afl level. I also worry about his lack of defensive pressure.
That said someone in the top 10 will pick him im just not sure it would he us.

I rate Clohesy but my only concern is he tends to get pushed off the ball at a contest a little easily.

I actually think hes very good in the contest, ball use and spread post stoppage are the areas we will have to address.
I actually meant at a stoppage.

We will get Clohesy, he won't be selected before 40... and if he is after 40, we will match there. Unless there is a Key Position player that is available with our next pick, around 58ish (which probably comes into late 40s/low 50s after bidding).
I'm pretty sure Wells said we'll only take Clohesy and Riccardi as rookies so if there's a bid we won't match.

That makes me think we have a tall lined up with our last selection.

I heard Philllipou's interview yesterday on AFL draft radio.

I'll say that I would like him & haven't cared much about the talks on his self-confidence, doubt he is available anyway.

But... Deadset this kid has the most confidence of just about anyone I've heard talk and it was so much that I was almost laughing.

Apparently, he is very good at everything by the sounds of it.

Very good mid
Very good forward
Also can impact on flanks and in still help scoring even with ball in the back half
Was very very happy with his year
Was going very very good with Bball but choose AFL

These are just things off the top of my head... High chance I missed a few that he rated about himself.

The talk about the kid's self-confidence sitting a few back in their seats is not a myth.

Did he say he was very very good at interviews?

He also said he wants to be at the G or Marvel every other week, playing in front of huge crowds. I wonder how he’d cope with a 2-year apprenticeship in the VFL.
