Will these guys all play in the 22 on a regular basis?

I'm really liking the flexibility of Gilmore in the side and he's relished the opportunity.

Warnock obviously is more adept around the ground than Sandilands.

Sandilands may have suffered early on from no help (loss of Longmuir) and a bit of injury.

IMO Hitouts are vastly over-rated, it's the reading of the tap that's important regardless who gets it. Take for example our clear deficiency against the Demons.

Warnock would be brilliant in the centre as a ruck rover. Have him reading Sandi and Knockers taps :thumbsu:

Once you take away the relief ruckman role, Gilmore has to earn his position with other parts of his game. I think they have improved this year, but I do wonder how much being able to contribute as second ruck has meant that he has had less pressure on those areas of his game.

We need two key knock ruckmen- Big Bird and warnock. All current sides in top 4 have two key ruckmen and good midfields.

Happy has to find a role for himself- a ruckrover role maybe?? and work like his career depends on it over the summer

Cant be bothered looking at the stats but i'd say we won every game this year that Happy, Peake and Scham played in at the same time.

From memory it might have been 3 games.

What I'm getting at, is the extra bit of pace may make a difference.

Happy could yet be the key to our team's fortunes over the next couple of seasons.

Now that the Big Knocker has been well and truly sounded out, the door is open for him to walk in and be part of the furniture.

Sandi is a walk up start and if Longmuir beats his injury.......

My avatar says it all.:)

No way Longmuir will play in ruck again IF he beats this injury(Bone on bone not likely) wouldn't take the risk for his knees to clashing in the ruck.
A knock to the knee in RD 1 2006(V hawks in Tassie) aggrevated his knee.

meaning we have two bona fide ruckmen and need a third on the rookie list in case of long term injury.

Warnock really really really needs to work on his hit outs, I think Gilmore could play wing, or in the centre, has the pace and the booming kick.

All three should play in the side, only Warnock and Sandilands should be in the ruck though.

It should be horses for courses next season. Hopefully all three remain fit and play well all year, if they do I'd play the twin towers together if conditions were suitable but rest one of them if it was a wet ground with rain forecast. Guys that big would benefit from a 19/20 game season anyway.

The key is that one of Sandi or Warnie, or preferably both, become a real threat from the goal square. It hurts our flexibility if we have one of them on the bench at all times.

Gilmore has been really good, but what inflates his stats is that he is playing as a ruckmen, and ruckmen often play a kick behind play. While the opposition ruckman is camped at half back Gilmore is picking up possessions at will around the ground. Gilmore has been getting 25 possessions in around 70 minutes on the ground. If he plays wing, onball or half forward his numbers won't be anywhere near that level most weeks.

Warnock is out of contract at the end of the year, which is a cause for concern. This situation might never make it past being a hypothetical.

Nah we've ascertained that he received a 3 year contract when he was drafted. So no need to panic - we have him for next year... and he'll stay beyond that, for sure. :thumbsu:

I certainly hope that he stays long term, but Sandi is apparently on close to half a million a year and J-Lo is on $350-400,000. If Warnock takes another big step next year we could be paying 2 million a year to Pav and our ruckmen in 2009. That's a huge chunk of the cap.

i dont like gilmores chances next year, he will come third in line i think.

sandi #1 ruckmen, needs to become more acountable around the ground like cox, then he will be a great player

warnock #2 ruckmen, has the height, speed, agility, good skills on the ground and is going to develop into one of the leagues best and will dominate in the future

these two are going to get the first crack i think but in pre season games with 6 on bench they will all be in the side

As far as back '06 FFC had Happy earmarked as someone to get some game time. He pulled a hammy late in the season and couldnt push back in for the finals.

He didn't do much wrong early this year but got the chop to make it look like the Club was doing something.

Now he has played a few games and looks reasonably confident now he will (imo) only get better.

Dont be surprised to see him spending plenty of time in the square next year. I know i'm not the only person who sees him re inventing the ruck rover position.

He couldnt go too far wrong having a chat with a fella named Michael. Thats S. Michael.;)
