Totally agree! I think it will be Dimma handing over a piece of paper with names and saying lets talk picks for players. Driving the best deal for the RFC Since his arrival not much seems to be left to chance, can't fault him or the club at this stage

No guessing here. Its exactly the same as Blair Hartley knowing exactly who is coming out of contract over the next 12-24 months.

All players have agents.

Any agent who doesn't make other clubs aware when contracts come up for renewal in order to try and attract a better offer (even if only for negotiation purposes or to establish market value) isn't doing his job.

I dare say all clubs know when all players are out of contract, and have a pretty good idea what they're on.

Hope they really do save thier assault on clubs players to thier second year as has been mooted.

Richmond playing good football in 2012 in front of roaring crowds. GWS getting smashed each week and struggling to pull a crowd.

This idea of them thinking they can wait a year for the blokes out of contract at the end of 2012 is suicide. If they are going to get anyone they better have made some inroads for next year already.

Look, this is not a go at Deledio in any way. There is no doubt fans severely over-rate the 'passion' players have for their club. They have to turn up 5-7 days a week, slog through brutal training sessions, suffer ridiculous rules regarding their social lives (no drinking, get to bed by 10pm, always be on best behaviour). We only see the 2 hours on Saturday. Sure they get paid very well, but what if you could get paid even more?

Simple question - if someone came to you and said 'I will give you $200,000 a year to barrack for Carlton for the next 3 years', would you do it?
Sure it would be hard, and sure your heart might not be 100% in it, and sure, as soon as the contract was up you'd go and get hypno-therapy to remove the memory of those 3 years - but I bet you could do it.

As regarding how 'close' we are to a flag - with all the concessions GWS are going to get over the next few years, they probably have as much chance as we have of hitting the jackpot in the next decade.

Disappointingly good post. Especially the last part. Hopefully things like friendships and wanting to stay in Melbourne would come into it. We are also in a fortunate position in terms of the salary cap, so I'd suggest Lids' offer from us would be closer to his GWS offer than say, the disparity between what the Dogs could offer Ward or the Lions could offer Clark.

I guess I was expecting more of a 'I'd rather die than leave the club' type response like Cotch gives.

I'm still only 20 so money doesn't mean that much to me yet, but to be perfectly honest I couldn't put myself through 6 months of pretending to barrack for carlton, let alone 3 years. If I were in the draft I would definately play for them, but voluntarily barrack for them - just can't do it.
