Help! Looking to get a signed Jumper

Hi Guys,

I know this might be a stretch but was hoping someone might be able to help or know who I can contact who might be able to.

My best mate has been diagnoised with an aggressive form of cancer in his skull which unfortunately chemo cant defeat. He is having an op on Thursday to hopefully remove as much as possible, with radiation the last line of defence. As with many forms of cancer the doctors cant really tell us why at 30 he is fighting this or how long he will have to fight it.

He is a mad Don's fan and I was hoping to get a get well jumper signed by anyone from Fletch who is his favourite player through to the whole squad depending on whats possible. Happy to buy a jumper or pay someone to help out as im in QLD.

I'm sure this is a daily call to the club, and I can assure you this is legit. Anyone who can help me out please PM me - any assistance or direction would be much appreciated.

yeah I thought of that but he is on twitter and would like it to be as much of a surprise as possible - with DM only being available between mutual followers he'd find out pretty quick. have followed essendonfc - hopefully can get a return follow and will then DM them.

Hi mate.

I'm sure the club will help you. Ring and ask for someone in the bequest department and have a chat.

They are pretty good, otherwise get a hold of David zaharakis on twitter, or any of the boys that are on there as often as he is.

Good luck, 2 people I know have gone/going through it, one will live till he is 100 the other will be lucky to live a couple more years, but there is hope still! So if your mate is a bomber he will most likely pull through!

Essendon are also up on the Gold Coast next week, not sure if they have an event organised for local members (probably not), but if so, that could also be an opportunity.

Do you have any details of times?

What are the don's like at making players available after sessions for signings?

I've mentioned this on another thread but the Bombers have just launched a program Flight Finance which provides a home loan & refinance solution.

One of the incentives for refinancing through this program is that you receive a 2012 Bombers jumper signed by the entire 2012 playing list (including Dustin Fletcher).

The program also donates to Flight Plan. No brainer!

It’s 2pm – 3pm.

I imagine there’d be some sort of player access, it’s an interstate event and an open training session so would think that’d kind of be the point of it. Again your best bet would probably be to contact the club and explain the situation, if you get yourself to the session I’m sure they’d work something out.

Just remember unfortunately the whole squad won’t be there, I think it’s usually a max of 24 players who travel.
