How long does Adam Simpsons have left?

Simmo has credits in the bank.
He's not getting sacked.

He's stuck in a shit situation he has no control over.

I think the issue is just the communication to fans.

Eagles fans seem pretty sensible. It's rebuild time.

Play the kids. Dont offer new contracts to Kennedy, Nicnat and Hurn.

Give them the respectful send offs they deserve.

He is the head coach, he is the king of everything football in the club. He gets 1 million per season to be responsible for this. He has had complete control over it and total responsibility sits with Adam.
You don’t need any skill to run, chase, tackle and be accountable. Anyone can do that. The players do not do any of that and have not for 4 seasons. That is the fault of the senior coach. The message is stale and there is no way to get around the obvious. He has lost the playing group.

Won a flag so clearly a good coach, but I’ve always found him a very dull character? Or is he just cagey when dealing with the media?

Who would you replace him with?

I think Cameron is probably gone before Simpson, talk about underachieving with a list.

Underachieving with a good list? LOL.

You Cats fans should know all about that.

A substantially better list for the past what, 10 years now? And zero to show for it.

Massive home ground advantage, umpires happy to win games for you AND even with the best captain of all time too. LOL.

Tough one, since they won the flag in 2018 their midfield is the mentally softest in the AFL. Don't like the hub, don't try. Don't like playing away don't try. Don't like playing in Geelong lose by 10+ goals, players unavailable through COVID don't try.

But at some point it has to fall on the coach for not addressing it.

Simpson can clearly coach having won a flag, but doesn't appear his message has been getting through for the last couple of years. Can happen for coaches who have been at a club long term.

Think it would be best for both parties if he moved on... to a club like GWS, which could do with a new coach & still have plenty of talent.

West Coast still have plenty of talent, but imo they need a new messenger for a refresh.

It's not only the midfield....and has been occurring since 2019 and no droppings of players to wafl. That all falls on Simpson

I agree fully but I still love a salty deflection. Insecurities run deep.

Jaymie Graham next Eagles coach??

Lol. No chance of that

Why would it be up to 10 years and not 2-3?

10 years is such a flog statement. Brisbane 2015 to Brisbane just % from the minor premiership in 2019.

You can't even get 9 games a week tipped right let alone predict what's happening 5 years out. Eagles have a lot of list holes but I bet they go hard, they will have probably 2-3 years where it's hard but they'll have strength at the trade table, a well resourced club, I doubt it will be more than 5.

Never got why successful coaches who developed a team to a flag don't get a chance to rebuild. Yep fresh ideas help but hr can get fresh ideas with new players potentially. His last list was full of good kicks and marking strength so they played to that. Plus the general idea of keeping possession with good kicks always will apply, it is the stoppages and defensive set up strategies that need work.

I guess it's just bowing to media and fan pressure to sack a coach rather than let them do the rebuild.

And yes I'd say there's a good argument Simpson has lost the players, but if Simpson is sacked now they're going to sack another coach before they are good. What club hasn't - Brisbane with Voss then Leppitsch before Fagan, Dees and Blues have had heaps, Saints had Richardson and Watters I think?

At the very least I'd let Simpson cop the worst of it and then with a couple of years of picks on board, then move to a new coach potentially. Otherwise the new coach will end up in a Noble situation

Simpson deserves the opportunity to rebuild and is contracted until 2024. Decent payout in an era of capped coaching budgets.

WCE has badly overestimated the state of their list going back to selling the farm for Kelly. Fremantle did similar with Hedland and the ensuing years were painful.

A new coach will not solve the lack of young talent outside of Allen.

They are at ground zero and a new coach will not survive the minimum five year rebuild. Simpson needs to start the process.

If Simpson admitted it's rebuild time, implemented a new game plan and dropped underperforming seniors he wouldn't be critised so much. He has built the culture of you play based on your name, rather than performance, along with no change to game plan that fans can see

I was talking about Leon Cameron. But go on.

Eagles massive home ground advantage, tick. Margetts and Daglish umpiring West Coast games, tick. Best Captain of all time… well no, because Joel plays for us.. but you do have Tim Kelly.

Yet, here we are, in a thread about sacking your coach just 3 seasons after he managed your team to a Flag.

Honestly were never even that good of a side, even in 2018 they were more a 5-8 quality side that got lucky with a very favourable run from the unpires (even look at the free kick differential ladder for that year)

You guys playing poorly in the preliminary final gave us a red hot shot at the flag which we took. Premiers are premiers .
We Would Of got beaten comfortably by you guys in my opinion.

Suma should be able to tinker you out of this mess. Also, because his mum made him eat a lot of things he didn't want to, he grew up to be big and strong!

Couldn’t agree more chum , Suma is the obvious choice … should start tomorrow

He should keep his radio gig though , imagine being able to call 6PR and talking directly to the dopey campaigner you’re ringing in to complain about
