As bzparkes said he needs more runs on the board.
Still a bit unproven and I think is a bit further from every teams best 23, even factoring youth
One to check back with in a couple of months time I reckon
I talked him up a fair bit this time last season before his debut AFL game.

He had a good month of WAFL footy leading up to it

NWM
Sinclair
Wilkie
Marshall would play ruck for about 16 teams
Sinclair is a weird one. Not the greatest player in the comp but every club should have a Sinclair type in the side.

Doesn't get praise because he is playing for your mob.

If was at Collingwood, the media would cream their pants. LoL

I said this last season chatting to a saints fan at gather round. He should be the saints captain.

He isn't elite but he is versatile. Can play him on a back flank, Forward flank, inside mid or on a wing.

Lots of names but if we are being honest collingwood's list is fking stacked.

Backline: Quaynor, Moore, Maynard, Houston, Perryman

Mids: J Daicos, J Crisp, N Daicos, J Degoey, S Pendlebury, S Sidebottom,

Forward: D Mcstay, B Hill, J Elliot, L Schulz

Maybes: Mihochek, T Mitchell, J Howe, D Cameron
this is getting a lot of lol reacts but i challenge anyone to say why its wrong lol

There's a few in there that I dont think would make the Lions team.

Im not sure Quaynor plays over Starcevich. And Im not certain that Maynard or Perryman make it either.

Midfield I dont think Pendlebury or Sidebottom make the team this year. Crisp might be a maybe as well.

Small forward we are pretty stacked already so not sure any of them make it. Ironically McStay would be what we are missing most (but I dont know if he plays at Adelaide for example).
Quaynor is a certified athletic freak who has an AA jacket, same goes with Maynard who is literally being recruited for mills right now while Starcevich is begging for a contract. Perryman was best 22 at giants weekly and would play over at least 1 player in brissy 22.

Ken Hinkley is a walk up start at any club… except Port Adelaide.

Seriously though
Butters Rozee Horne-Francis definitely
Aliir maybe
Georgiades possibly
Bergman, Rioli unlikely
I reckon Bergman would. I think Adelaide has pretty good back flank options, but I'd happily take him over most (if not all) of our options

I didn’t think about Willem Drew from Port because he’s that defensive mid and 5th in line behind Butters, Rozee, Horne-Francis, Wines. But 20 possessions and 6-8 tackles a game from that type of player we desperately need.

this is a joke surely... he was BOG in the last qtr of a premiership win in 23 and is the most experienced player in the AFL. WCE have a huge issue with a lack of leadership for Harley Reid, crazy how the pies aren't suffering from that at all with Daicos... He would be first picked on your whole list lol

He was your sub 1 week ago. Meaning he was barely in Collingwood's best 23.

I’ll point to one straight away. Jamie Elliott. And he’s one of my favourite non Cats. Absolutely love him as a player

Last year he averaged 1.25 goals a game. Nothing wrong with that. But it would have ranked him equal 6th for us. One of those players was Tom Hawkins who is gone now - but one of the players ISNT Gryan Miers: and he’s not pushing him out, because he’s the best forward in the comp at setting up goals.

He contributed 0.66 goal assists per game.

The only player from that list of goalkickers who contributed less per game last year, is Ollie Henry… who contributed 0.65. But booted 1.61 goals per game.

So in scoring terms, he’s behind every player we have from last year that’s still going (Cameron, Miers, Close, Henry, Stengle, Mannagh, Neale).
Other players who drift forward and have a scoreboard impact like Dempsey (0.9 goals, 0.9 assists) get more of the ball than Elliott’s 13 touches plus change.

2023 Elliott would have done it, no question. 56 goals/assists over 24 games while we had some players who dropped back a bit - 2.25 or so goals contributed is exactly what you want.

2024 Elliott - well probably not.

Maybe he will get back to it.

I hope he does: like I said, he’s one of my favourite non Cats, spectacular to watch and seems to be as clutch as just about anyone going around.

bro GPT models just feed your own biases, I can prompt it to tell me that Jesse Motlop would have a spot in every teams best 22

I asked it if a 37 year old Pendles would be best 22, and it gave me an entirely different output

It's just how GPT's work
Scott Pendlebury at 37 is still a highly skilled, composed, and experienced midfielder/half-back, but he’s no longer the dominant force he once was. That said, his footy IQ, leadership, and ability to control games mean he’d still be best 22 in most teams, though probably in a more defensive/playmaking role rather than as a primary midfielder.

Teams Where He’d Still Be Best 22 (Even at 37)

✅ Collingwood (obviously) – Still a crucial leader and distributor off half-back.
✅ West Coast – Would walk into their midfield and provide much-needed experience.
✅ North Melbourne – Midfield still developing, and he’d add leadership.
✅ Hawthorn – Similar to North; would be a perfect on-field mentor.
✅ Richmond – Would start half-back or midfield with their aging list.
✅ Adelaide – Midfield lacks elite experience outside Laird.
✅ Essendon – Would add composure and leadership to a shaky midfield.
✅ Fremantle – Could play half-back or inside mid alongside Serong and Brayshaw.
✅ St Kilda – Would fit Ross Lyon’s structure perfectly in a disciplined role.
✅ Western Bulldogs – Could replace Bontempelli in midfield rotation and play half-back.

Teams Where He Might Be Best 22 But Not a Lock

🟡 Melbourne – Would be depth behind Petracca, Oliver, and Viney but could play half-back.
🟡 Sydney – Wouldn’t replace their main mids but could play a JPK-type late-career role.
🟡 Port Adelaide – Midfield is stacked, but he could be a handy half-back option.
🟡 Brisbane – They’re stacked in midfield, but he’d be depth for a Zorko-like role.

Teams Where He Might Not Make Best 22 (But Would Still Play Games)

❌ GWS – Already have elite mids and playmakers off half-back (Whitfield, Ash).
❌ Geelong – A similar situation to Dangerfield; they’d probably go younger.
❌ Carlton – Hard to squeeze into a midfield with Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, and Hewett.

Verdict:
At 37 years old, Pendlebury is still best 22 in at least 12-14 teams, especially those needing leadership, composure, and defensive playmaking. He wouldn’t be a primary midfielder anymore but would still contribute significantly off half-back or in a rotation role.

Pendles is the complete antithesis of Hokball. Gunston and Bruest signed on for an extra year to play that mentoring anchor position and so far one of then has played half a game as a sub, because they haven't been required.

Absolute champion of the game, but if mid-season trading was a thing and Pendles was up for grabs, I'm pretty confident we wouldn't be trying to recruit him.

Would Zach Guthrie get a game at every club or is he only rated internally?
