This Jerka talk is getting a bit stale. All the cool kids are already talkin bout who's holding us over a barrel next year. Get with the times people!

Heard from a reliable source from Western Australia, the Dockers have now made Jenkins their number one target.

$3.6 million over 4 years.
I'm onto you.

You are trying to see if Rucci will print your made up "rumours". A fun game but an obvious one ;)

Value doesn't have to commute. It's getting the job done. Get their man at all costs.

Pav money plus the salary cap increase won't see a huge dent in the salary cap.

Anywho, I think he stays.
I'm starting to wonder if this is a collective ploy from rival teams, to put in fake bids in order to force us to pay overs for our own players, therefore hurting our salary cap management and chances of success.

Or 900k from Fremantle is not true. He/she might have been telling you a fib?

He said earlier in the year that he loves the club and intimated he was staying. What's changed other than the media circus which is predictable. Does anyone know if he has been asked recently about his contract status? I'm more interested in how he responded than all the media idiots opinions.

You know you're just making a jackarse out of yourself. I don't believe he will leave and said numerous time before.

Just passing on information I've heard today at a Clontarf Foundation conference.
Where was the conference?

Don't think he is fibbing. This guy knows his footy. I just don't think JJ accepts the offer.

$600,000 a year (~$400,000 after tax and agent fees) in Adelaide would be equal to $900,000 ($540,000 after tax and agent fees) in Perth

Property prices, cost of living and other expenses makes Adelaide a better deal.
I know my footy too but I'm not saying the Blues are offering him a contract. Unless he had some inside word it's all fun n games at the minute

I must confess though....I have changed my thinking slightly due to the fact he seems to be wanting to get involved in the contested space a lot more. I like what I see from Jenkins more this year, than any year before.

Absolutely, could not agree more. But what I'm concerned is that we may over pay him, and this may hinder our ability to bring a top shelf Mifielder into the club.

I'd consider trading JJ for an A grade mid if that was the difference for us winning a premiership. We have the best forward in the Comp.....but that is unlikely to win us a flag. Our defence has huge potential. Our mid is our weakness when you compare us to the likes of the other top 8 teams. I am not against using a key player that another team would pay overs for to land us a pick (that we could on trade for a bonified mid) or a direct swap if it is the right choice. It is a ballsy decision that our club often does not make.

Thankyou. This is more or less what I trying to highlight earlier :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:.

Freo are at least 5 years away from getting back in the 8! This is becoming farcical now, Jenkins is a 30 goal a year forward at best as your number one forward in an average team such as freo. Adelaide are a top 4 side who are the best team in the league at transitioning the ball from defence to attack and create the most goals out the back where jenkins sits or can get to due to his pace for a big man. Also, betts and lynch have been very generous in increasing jenkins goals in order to increase his pay scale over the next 4 years. Must be a players code but they are doing the crows no favours in doing this. He is worth no more than 550k per year, maybe 600k to keep him as we are in a premiership window but talk of any more than this is absolute nonsense and quite frankly laughable! Don't get me wrong, I want jenkins to stay at a Fair price but he must Want to stay! If you do, quit playing these games as it shows the club a total lack of respect when i believe the crows were the only ones that took a punt on you and allowed you to get into a position to secure your future!

It's not a made up rumour, I spoke to a keynote speaker from Perth today at a conference I went to.
Who knew you were a crows fan & thought he would yank your chain. ;)

There is no way the Dockers are offering $900k pa for jj.

Look, I would love to keep JJ for the sake of familiarity and the fit he offers but there is no way in hell I am prepared to pay him more than the likes of Tex and Sloane. Just plain NO!

Eddie would be in that group but Eddie is a freaking bargain at $500K per season. I could pay JJ that much or slightly more if I squint really hard but at some point I am not putting in jeopardy long term planning for the club, not our ability to keep onto the much more important players.

If JJ bolts, I am making a play for some of the other players on the market that can ill his role. They don't have to kick 70 goals in a year but I am happy if they produce the 40 odd that Jenkins has produced in the last two seasons for fraction of the cost. $750K is approaching the superstar territory and JJ is not a superstar but a very good player.

Noone could sensibly predict that we'd use the money to invest in upper echelon free agents, given that we've made vague suggestions that we would do so with the money set aside for the number of very high value free agents that we apparently had money in the cap for but decided they wanted to go home over the last few years. Strangely it never eventuates, and when the next signing comes around we're still outbid.

The difficulty with the Hawthorn type comparisons and market value is that success breeds that loyalty. If we continue to lose the talent that we develop, good luck having success.

When frothie posts something he heard from a mate its BS, when Sam posts something he heard from somebody at a conference its gospel?

Yeah works for me :drunk:

I'm hoping Reid has changed all that. May be an optimistic outlook.

Look at King Kane wonder in with his swagger and bravado and post stuff like I actually care.

Now is your opportunity to be the bigger man.
You can believe jj has been offered $900k pa... I choose to not believe it is anywhere near this mark.

We are allowed to agree to disagree on a forum. ;)

You really do hold grudges, particularly when proven wrong over calling someone out who was 100% right.

I think he will stay.
That we agree on.

Jj says he wants to stay & will so long as we give him a reasonable deal.

Won't get ridiculous money though as you only get that playing for a crap team & he won't play finals for the remainderbig his career.

I posted what I heard. I know this person would know.
I don't deny you were told it... I just don't believe what he told you is accurate.

You right?

You feel happy?

You're point scoring again and you only ever engage in conversation with me to have a go. You musty have some point otherwise you could just ignore this as it has nothing to do with you.

I just honestly can't comprehend the mentality of someone who posts a rumour, and then sits there with baited breath waiting for any response to come in so he can puff his chest out.

It's very strange, and kind of uncomfortable.

I believe you.

But in the other thread you were saying another poster had no credibility when they reported what they heard about Crouch?

The think you don't wish to admit, the salary cap will increase for the 2018 season.

Hypothetically, he accepts the deal.

In 2017, he could have a $500,000 salary to not blow their salary cap out oif the water. In 2018 when the salary cap goes up, Fremantle could easily add that extra salary for Jenkins to the 2018 salary cap and pay him that extra money he is owed.

They could easily back end his salary when the salary cap has been increased.

I've said I think he will stay but the salary being offered isn't that outrageous with the improved cap.
I'm fully aware the salary cap is increasing & never denied this at anytime.

I just don't believe Jenkins is offered anywhere near $900k pa.
