How will history remember Selwood & Pendlebury?

Unfortunately Selwood will always be remembered for leading the ducking pandemic of his era.
yep as a neutral, it's the first thing you think of with Selwood, certainly tarnished his legacy. And ducking aside he is a fairly nasty piece of work on-field generally. Pendlebury miles ahead in this regard.

Said it before, but you'd think he would have seen guys like Matty Lloyd coming out and saying he now regrets his constant push-in-the-back simulations when he played.

These guys retire in their early 30s as multi millionaires, having achieved the ultimate in the game, but still feel that loss of respect from playing without honour.

Selwood - hard as nails. clutch player. unnecessary ducking has not endeared him to non-geelong fans.
Pendles - class player. Smooth in traffic and clean disposal.

both modern greats. Just behind GAJ, Judd & Mitchell for mine as the best mids in the last decade.
bit of a shame neither has a brownlow.

I rate Selwood about the same as Pendlebury but some of those achievements shouldn't be included in a comparison. Ron Evans Medal? Most Courageous Player? Captain of Australia? Cormac McAnallen Cup? Just listing his B+Fs, premierships and AA selections gets it done already.

The Ron Evans Medal is the Rising Star award - which Selwood won with Pendles 2nd. Not the most relevant award but worth a mention imo.

Lol Selwood will rightly not give a * what a bunch of flogs on a website think.

Unfortunately Selwood will always be remembered for leading the ducking pandemic of his era.

When tacklers shifted their target from the hips to pinning the arms, Selwood was the one who realised that you could break tackles by raising your arms and slipping out underneath them. He bacame fantastic at doing it. A by-product was a lot of head high contact resulting in free kicks to him. Unfortunately, this later led to many players actually buckling at the knees, with no intention of getting their arms free, in a bid to draw high contact.

Selwood's an absolute champion. It's funny watching those videos of Selwood supposedly 'ducking' with the sole intention of drawing a free kick, because on most occasions he either breaks the tackle or gets his arms free enough to shoot out a handball.
