Speaking of fines, I just got my first ever speeding fine today; by mail. Apparently I was doing 52 in a 40 zone on a freeway. I’ve no recollection of the incident; it was obviously some sort of reduced speed scenario involving road works or the like. $363, that’s my contribution towards the $1 billion plus flushed away along with a range of other wasted ALP initiatives.

I’m happy to contribute towards overcoming Vic’s mismanagement related budget shortfalls, but will need to do some reflection on how to avoid repeating such stupid driving error in future,

Hopefully not one of those frequent instances these days where they reduce the limit before they even put out the cones.

The reduced speed signs should be the first put out, 1 for safety and 2 because it makes sense to start at the start and work your way down.

What’s more annoying is when it’s a long duration job and they’re too lazy to pack or at least cover the signs up at night.

I’ve noticed it far worse in the country, they never pack up. But there was one last year in Melbourne where they were working on a footpath 2-3m away from the road and still left the 40 signs out every night and weekend…

If you don't test positive your iso resets with every new exposure

Close, he has to no longer have symptoms and be cleared by DHS as a positive case

He then gets 30 days iso free from new exposures
I thought clearance was automatic ie no one calls up to check; though am aware my hospital uses up to 14 days for those with ongoing respiratory symptoms

Has the SRL been costed and actually ready to begin? Just saw Jacinta complaining about a lack of federal government support and they were nearly ready to begin construction, but I didn't think they'd actually finished the business case nor come close to a cost yet?
Election commitment > Business case.

You get a text and you are meant to wait for the text and no symptoms

2 genius plays by Andrews recently - he really is the master!
1. Finally relenting and allowing detailed deliberation on a bill in the lower house. the chosen bill? - puffing billy governance. he sure has a sense of humour!
2. Arranging to get covid right before the Warne State Memorial - is this his way of avoiding facing a potentially hostile crowd of non alp activists / mainstream australians?

I hope not. What disturbs be me is that I make a point of being careful when driving, yet I still managed to exceed to limit.

Link to where it's claimed the result is a fake test result

Yes he was going. Not sure if premiers have to attend state funerals but i doubt it? Assuming the governor or her rep. has to though.

That's the thing, it still reads like a wild pipedream with completely unrealistic costings, the Federal Government would be crazy to go into partnership for such a project with unknown costs.

Even the opposition haven't done much more than commit to the initial business case, but haven't heard anything from them supporting the actual build.

I guess their talk of beginning construction shortly made me wonder if we'd all missed something? Or are they planning to commit to a large scale construction project with no realistic costings on the eve of an election?
Has it got a tunnel .... $????s

If you think there was a mistake of fact in that you were to your knowledge abiding with the law but the signage about the zone wasn’t clear, then surely just contest it?

Paying the fine but griping about it on an Australian Rules fan site doesn’t seem the best way to go about it.

Yes, good point, mistake of fact is a defence for a strict liability offence such as a driving offence. But, I’m happy to take responsibility for exceeding the limit, and pay the fine. It’s clearly my fault and a wake call for me not to be complacent moving forward.

Are you saying you will try and be more woke?

No worries.

I wasn’t being sarky at all, though it sounded like that big time now I read back. Just genuinely saying you should contest unfair fines always if you didn’t have a fair chance of realising what was required. I work in the regulatory area (not roads thank god) and we would all be better off if unreasonable fines were contested. It actually improves the regulator and the laws. Most people just sigh and wear it which is a bit depressing, though I perfectly understand why
