If Richmond had Judd, they would have no problem finding a major sponsor

Gibbs tore Deledio a new one? He had 30 touches kicked a goal and picked up a brownlow vote in that game. I would say Deledio had an alright game.;)

I dont agree with anyone knocking Cotchin - will be a gun, everyone knows it, and the rest is just banter.

Carlton v Richmond in 2009 will be fascinating. Easily the 2 most disappointing Clubs in the AFL (maybe Fremantle as well) since 2001 but for different reasons (Carlton - lost its way, pick penalties; Richmond - general woefulness) so with both looking up in 2009 there's severe bragging rights to whichever team wins the games or makes the finals. Looking forward to it.

I rate Gibbs, but it's a shame, because he's always going to be remembered that way.

Francis Bourke is remembered walking off the ground covered in blood.

Gary Ablett is remembered grabbing a ball out of the ruck and snapping a goal in the '89 GF.

Alex Jesalenko is remembered for the mark.

I can't wait to see Gibbs' Toyota moment.

Richmond will be remembered by....by....by....by....bye.

And yet his direct opponent managed 3 goals and 2 brownlow votes from only 20 touches, it's about quality, not quantity ;)

This is an impossible hypothetical, because Judd, along with every other elite, wouldn't remotely consider joining the basket case that is the Richmond Football Club. In fact last year he refused to even meet with the Tiges despite Miller's repeated desperate needy plea's to his management. Judd even met with the Dees ahead of the Tiges, which was a statement in itself. Richmond have been locked in a channel of mediocrity and failure between spoon and 9th for the past 28 years. eg...

2004 = spoon
2006 = 9th Again
2007 = spoon
2008 = 9th Again

Their sponsors are bailing, and their financial viability is borderline at best. In 2009 they'll be forced to play 5, 31yo and olders in order to keep their cherished 9th-finish dream alive. Miller may be gone, but the consequences of the Miller-Terry era of incompetence persist. It's just a disaster. :)

He played in a winning side. Players in winning sides tend to get the bigger votes. I didn't say gibbs played shit either i simply said he did not tear deledio a new one because he didn't

Once again, Parrot speaks DA TRUTH when it comes to Richmond FC ...

I think people will look at Nathan Brown's sagging career when he crossed to the Tigers, and believe that club is simply a curse ..

Spot on.

When Gibbs had the ball against Richmond, he generally made something happen and created a scoring chance further down the line.

And he stood up in Deledio's tackle...

They'd probably have a better shot at a premiership....

With all due respect of course ;)

Who... Richmond...

Yeah, they might get a premiership shot in about 50 years with their 9th place finish strategy :D

It's all good for the team that hasnt played in a grand final for the last 26 years and hasnt won one in 28 years :D

And Carlton finished where in the ladder in 2008 with Judd and the expectation of finals?

And Carlton finished where in the ladder in 2008 with Judd and the expectation of finals?

There was never any expectation that Carlton would play finals in 2008.

There was a glimmer hope that we may just scrape in after consecutive come from behind wins against both Pie varieties in round 11 and 12 and then spoiling your 100th birthday celebrations in round 14.

This will be the first year in many that Carlton will go into a season with the expectation of playing finals.

And we will live up to it.

Just like old times! :thumbsu:

What will the expectation be on the Tiger's this year?

Will Terry do another presentation to the media before the season starts to explain that it took him 5 years to turn over the list that Spud left him so now he's got another 5 year plan comprising of at least another three 9th place finishes? :D

It was an 8/10 season for Blues supporters :thumbsu:

Easily pleased.

Richmond FC hae played in the finals twice in 26 years, yet you still think you're in a position to stir other clubs..... Gimme a break...
Even Freo and the Brisbane Bears (before they became the Lions) have / had managed to equal or better that finals record....

Think even Fitzroy, a basket case, did better and they haven't been around for 12 yrs.

Says something!

Hey and both times they needed the Mighty Blues to inspire them to get in....:

* in 1995, Carlton were rising through 1993 / 1994 / 1995 so Richmond finally got off its bottom and 'achieved something'

* in 2001, Carlton had risen over 1999 / 2000 / 2001!

Carlton's woes since 2001 have been well documented, explained, articled and every one has taken aim and rejoiced in it.

Richmond, equally hasnt played in finals since then, and had no draft penalties, undermining, near collapse...it was just Richmond. How they can possibly explain or justify not playing finals since then is beyond me...

other than just....

'We're crap'
