I'd like to see some proof for this please.
Get a degree, the work experience and spend 20+ years in the industry, work your way up in the industry and you can.
That was from the mouth of one of the largest international hotel corporations CEO's not even 12 months ago having built flagship hotels a few years apart in Manhattan and Melbourne.
Union Carpenters in Manhattan (one of the most expensive plases to build in the world outside of Australia) earn $26/hr AUD + overtime ($39/hr AUD) - 2 weeks annual leave if 0-8 years in the industry, 3 weeks 8+ years..
CFMEU Carpenters in Melbourne are on $55/hr + site allowance (can be over $10/hr on some major projects) + super + portable redundancy + long service + income protection + overtime ($110/hr + meal allowance after 10 hours shifts ($30)
And they are contracted to 36 hr weeks, which means 7.5 weeks of annual leave per year effectively.
The cost base for a worker is well over $100/hr when factoring workplace insurances etc.
So yeah, 300%+ costs may have been underestimated...
