Basically if a vote of no confidence succeeds today are they saying if Labour get in power they won't help fund the stadium and if that happens, the AFL will either cave in and not make it a must have for the team or they'll scrap it all together?

Essentially yes. It will become who blinks first.Basically if a vote of no confidence succeeds today are they saying if Labour get in power they won't help fund the stadium and if that happens, the AFL will either cave in and not make it a must have for the team or they'll scrap it all together?

They are still going ahead.
When was the last time a major government building project was close to budget?
Do they look to make savings on the design though? Wooden roof may not be the cheapest option.
If it's built, makes them more viable to get more Test matches.
This was set up to fail.
Their best hope is a relocated team
Does Tasmania really need a stadium with a roof?Cricket Austalia don't like the roof design.
That's a problem that needs solving.
It really doesn't ay, they just need to be smart with the scheduling of fixtures (day games in the middles months of the season, night games at the start and ends of the season).Does Tasmania really need a stadium with a roof?
Does Tasmania really need a stadium with a roof?
Why?If you want test cricket there, I feel absolutely.
Why?
Was thinking the same this morning, considering Tas were pulling the money for the North/Hawthorn games unless they got a team would they be left in the wilderness and AFL leave the state?NGL part of me wants this to fall over just to see what happens.
I imagine a stadium with a roof can be used for so much more than AFL, e.g., basketball, concerts.Whys the stadium need a roof? American football and euro soccer play un the snow. The old saying you build it and they'll come. Tassie get an afl team and more people and businesses move there, there's not 10 clubs vying for your business down there
It just means they'll work with governments and sponsors to "do up" Bellrieve...or less likely North Hobart Oval.
Yeah, and the location is shit.Nah. Nothing special about the design of MCG, Optus or Adelaide Oval. It is the location that brings the crowds.
Somehow they have managed to play cricket in Tasmania for a long time.Because rain stops play in cricket?
If it falls over, your team is the most likely to get relocated if the option becomes more viable. You should probably hope it doesn't fall over..NGL part of me wants this to fall over just to see what happens.
It is unlikely the binary is a new team and new stadium with a roof, or relocated team at an existing venue. If it falls over, your team is the most likely to get relocated if the option becomes more viable. You should probably hope it doesn't fall over..
Certainly not saying it's a bad thing, not a good thing. Is that such a bad thing? Believe Oval has the same capacity as Sydney Showgrounds and Carrara so it matches 2 current AFL team home grounds. A lick of paint and a few touch ups and you’ve got a permanent AFL stadium for the fraction of the price of a completely new one.
A brand new stadium that was only going to be used 3hrs a day on 12 days of the year is not worth selling off multiple state assets for.
