The senior coach is an important club figure and a legitimate topic of discussion. It's fair to do so and everyone has a right to express their view.

The mod team observed that the thread was dominated by a few protagonists and their points were repeated i.e. 8 years of regression vs marked improvement in 17,18 etc Pretty much everyone with a strong opinion has already expressed it here.

What further degraded discussion was the simplistic "sack FIGJAM" or "he's a legend" type posts.

This thread will remain open. If your view has slightly shifted or you have new thoughts please share. In an effort to encourage quality discussion repetitive statements and circular arguments will from now on be deleted as will silly posts suggesting that we sack a coach on match-day.

Disappointed Gimp. Going back to your Bucks bashing. Remember in 2017, you were trying to organise a protest march to the Holden centre. Pitch forks and everything. Then 2018 rolls through and you are back on board. Now back to your real form.

Oh well. This is where you stand, no going back now brother. The lines are drawn.

Water off a duck's back.. will protest.. will praise.. will do as I please.. you do realise that don't you.. after 5 yrs.. or am I actually a figment of your own imagination.

MM was told to start cleaning out his office half way through his ninth season. This is Buckley's 9th season......................................
Mick had 12 years at Collingwood.

You could have said, no club sacks a coach who's last 2 seasons were Premiers, Runners Up. Oh, hang on...........................................
Mick wasn’t sacked, he resigned.

ah - the old 9 year come back - so predictable.
Not a single poster has successfully argued this point - why?
Top 4 and GF and PF in successive years is improvement the that blows the darks day of the previous 7 years out of the water.

The Grand final was achieved ONLY after his position as coach was in jeopardy, there were changes in the coaching ranks and he was forced to take on new ideas. Neither of the coaches who engineered those changes are there now.

The Preliminary final came about because another team in Hawthorn beat the WC Eagles. Had they not done so, Collingwood would not have received the double chance. They played Geelong, failed to score in the third quarter of that match - sound familiar? - and hung on to win by 14 points, and then got poleaxed two weeks later by a GWS outfit missing half their midfield and with their captain relegated to hobbling in the goal square after quarter time.

I guess after the absolute shitfest Buckley delivered from 2013-2017, that is an improvement, but the team are now on the same plummet into oblivion that happened during those years, and don't even remotely look like contending any time soon.

The 'Pies ain't making the Grand Final or Prelim this year, and may not even make finals. But no doubt you have some spin for that, too.

GF and PF in the last two years. That is fact.

He was told, half way through his 9th season (2009), that he would be finishing up at the end of 2012.

This is Buckley's 9th season. When is the press conference???
Mick agreed to the succession plan in his tenth year as coach. He got a two year extension. That takes Bucks through until the end of 2023.
