It's absolutely gobsmacking that people try and explain this away as anything other than straight out cheating. It's like the Rendell sacking and excusing trigg claiming it was vlads decision. I don't get how some people can ignore basic common sense just because the issue belongs to the footy club they follow.

I'm not convinced the worst case scenario is going to hit the bombers, but I can understand the potential to delude oneself if that result would have most of the list banned from playing for 12 months or more. That is some pretty depressing shit. But all we're talking about critically assessing a few decisions made by a very replaceable CEO/chairman/board. Whether the transgressions should have resulted in terminations is up for debate, but surely the legality/spinelessness of those actions themselves are now beyond doubt.

I think you're misunderstanding what we were confident about - not needing the guarantee is not the same as paying it. But we SHOULD have declared it, especially as we never needed it.

Maybe I'm misremembering, as I don't remember the part DABM mentioned about reassigning existing sponsorships - but the conversation was "you can make another $200k in being a brand ambassador for Adelaide businesses." "But what if I don't?" "mate, you will. Have you seen this town? But look - in some fantasy world where you don't, we'll make it up."

Doesn't matter if you were RIGHT and he did make the cash, offering the safety net was the problem.

Of course - the fact that we discuss this level of regrettable incompetence as if it is the same as a program of secret human experimentation is laughable.

Ours is the equivalent of driving 85 in a 60 zone. Essendon is the equivalent of driving at .15.

It would be highly doubtful Rendell's indiscretions were anywhere near in the same ballpark as Trigg's stuff ups!

The fact that the Rendell saga became anything more than a 30 second discussion at the front bar is just as much an indication of a decaying society as it is a decaying Adelaide Football Club.
