I was interested in that link as well. Hadn't heard it before. Haysman is a gun though. He was doing a good job at Port but he took a masive fall for the Power as the man who blew the whistle on the crippling financial model the SANFL had imposed on both clubs. The SANFL removed him and installed KT. Many of us saw KT as a SANFL plant in the initial stages but he has well and truly proved his allegiances.

If it wasn't for Haysman, neither team would be at Adelaide Oval. You could sure as hell do a lot worse than put Haysman in the chair. He was a Crows fan prior to working at Port...

Yeah I think you will find Duncanson's reign as Chairman/President was a tad more tarnished than Haysman's role as CEO. Mostly to do with Chocos contracts over the years. A topic for another time (and board).

I've dealt with Duncanson in the professional world - I'd be incredibly surprised if he was incompetent; at anything.

I'd be more inclined to believe the politics and egos at Port during his time, destroyed him. Also probably isn't a big enough name/profile for an AFL Club these days.

James knows what he's talking about.

It's become very concerning lately, with Chapman's comments about setting up the board to protect themselves from a coup, stacking it with people he has personal relationships with, and his seeming refusal to look outside of the tent or demand accountability.

It's very much starting to look like he views the AFC as his own personal fiefdom.

Smart - again, the Crows have this massive issue where they find the person they want to fill a role, and then have them undertake the relevant qualifications - but the reality is, they're still undertaking on the job training, and we endure it. Career business people, who have spent their working lives working their way up, learning and developing, are overlooked in favour of people we like, who have been doing it for a few years.

And how the shit did we spend $200k on pre-game entertainment in those first two weeks?!?!

Yeah Duncanson wasn't incompetent, more out of his depth for the issues that Port were dealing with at the time.
I think your comment about the egos is spot on and explains a lot of what went on.

We invested what we had into the White Elephant (Westpac Centre), we've also proceeded to make losses since the Westpac Centre has opened and our overall revenue figures are amongst the lowest in the AFL (around the same as St Kilda).

How can a team with a membership base in the top 4 in the AFL and a supporter base as big as ours only have a revenue base on par with St Kilda ?

we wont improve as a club until he is gone. he will just employ a yes person or a 'friend of the program' - ergo, boys club.

i'm still backing smart to be the next CEO. It won't be an outsider.
