Great to read that Jack has had his first full pre-season

I haven't been this excited about a Melbourne player since Adam Yze in the mid 90's

Very different players. Grimes looks to be like a Lenny Hayes-type midfielder. Yze was very much an outside player, but a class one at that.

Yze, circa 1998-2004, was one of the best Demons I have seen. Absolute jet!

Unfortunately he went downhill fast in the final few years of his career, I always assumed he'd get to 300 but he never got there in the end.

As for Grimes, I'm confident he'll be an AA and B&F winner like Yze was, but that's where the similarities end IMO...

I think he's just comparing his level of excitement about each player, not necessarily their characteristics as footballers.

In any case, Grimes is definitely one of our most exciting players, but these days it's impossible for me to pinpoint the player I'm most excited about, given that there is so much talent on our list now.

Good times ahead :thumbsu:

I loved the Ooze but Grimey will be a whole different game from Yze, he might not have Yze's freakishness but his potential far exceeds that of Yze.

Youre forgetting how good Yze was in his peak. Would have been rated much higher if he played a couple more years at his best level and also if he played in a more successful side.

Grimes definately has the 'potential' to be as good.

Grimes had a solid dip yesteday but let's not get carried away. Luke Hodge monstered him when Grimes matched up against him. I think that a lot of those holding frees to Hodge early were from Grimes as well.
