All the best to him.
He certainly has a good resume of work behind him.

Was hardly a surprise that he is off to Port given that has been the mail for a long time now.

Did very well at Subiaco and had it not been for some incompetent management on behalf to WAFL to allow Peel to rort the system , he may well have been a four successive year Premiership Coach.
Although some will see the irony in that comment.

Agree and Port is an astute choice for Schofield as you would think another season like the one just gone from Hinkley and he will be shown the door.

Good luck to him.

Was keen to see him be the Mitchell replacement but not to be.

Interesting thought about possible emotional instability. The professional approach has rubbed players the wrong way in the past but again that may be more due to the individual player as well.

Good move by Schofield nobody is dislodging Simpson soon and for all the criticism of the apparent below par coaching recruitment his system is going fairly well

Clubs rarely sack a coach and replace them with one of their assistants tho.

I reckon it's more to do with his son and him being a Port premiership player.

This year I’ve read quotes from almost all of our midfielders saying how much Mitchell has helped them and helped the midfield overall. And we’ve seen evidence of that.

Mitchell’s departure is a big loss. Hopefully we don’t half-ar#e the hunt for a replacement. Hopefully the days of appointing blokes who never played/excelled in the midfield as midfield coach are behind us. No Sumich, Longmuir, Teague, Graham as mids coach. Appoint a specialist who has been part of a successful midfield, and preferably someone with a bit of a mean streak to keep the players honest. It sounds like Mitchell hasn’t been afraid to ruffle feathers when he felt the players were coasting. They need that sometimes.
