Jesse Hogan(mini-draft)- priority for us

It doesn't make sense to me. Why don't they just back their recruters to select two guns at pick 5 & 6 this year? It is a strong draft and they will be able to play next year.

It depends what the other Pick\Player is .
If the other player was Tyson then it would be a great deal for the Bulldogs.

Martin is a potential number 1 pick and defiantly top 3 pick.

The other player isn't Dom Tyson. It seems as though the Bulldogs will be paying a fair bit more than the Suns did for O'Meara.

Do you guys no the dogs list?
At 5&6 they're not going to fill a need as much as they would by getting Hogan.
They need KPP & a ruckman neither of which they will get with those picks without severely reaching.
They're well stocked for young mids so why not load up & get a Pav/Brown that could conpletely transform their club??

If the bulldogs give pick 5 and 6 for Martin and a late 1st round GWS pick, it won't be too dissimilar to the Suns deal for O'Meara though this is a less compromised draft so 5 & 6 are probably worth more this year than last.
What it means for us is it ups the value of the Hogan pick, putting us further away from it

Are we allowed to trade future picks or is that not in yet?
If this kids as good as expected id trade:
Pick 16, 2013 1st rounder & Silvagni/Ibbo/Suban. Whoever they prefer, without a seconds thought.

If GWS end up with picks 5 and 6 and we miss out on the mini draft one option we may have is to trade Moller to GWS to upgrade our pick 16 to pick 6 and thereby leapfrog Carlton and Brisbane who are desperate for a KPP.

Very sensible post. Although probably wouldn't help in the KPP regard because most of them aren't rated as top 10 picks this year. We would most likely select a midfielder at pick 6.

Fact is We wont be playing Griffin/Sandi/Clarke in the same team. West Coast get away with it because nicnat plays like a mid and cox is a good forward. So if Moller is as good as we think... Trade him or Clarke with something else to get Hogan and for once can we get a young WA star. Our club has been ruthless to get what it wants the last year or so, lets keep the trend going.

Problem is,GWS seem hell bent on obtaining picks and that's it.

Are they? I just think it's because teams have struggled to get players to agree to trade into them. FWIW, I rekcon if they were offered a reasonable player and a 1st rounder they might go for it. A proven AFL level player is worth a bit. The issue is that you've got to have a player who's willing to go to GWS which is obviously the tricky bit.

The risk is pretty big with Hogan though, I'd love to know Bond & Co.'s thinking on this. It's going to cost a bit to get him and could well be worth it, but he's still young. Could turn out to be another Gumby or could be the next John Brown or N. Riewoldt. Odds seem high it will the latter sort, but who knows?

Was thinking the same thing, GWS need mature bodies and from 2014(?) will be in cull mode, so you'd think they'd want some experience to go along with potential.

One way to facilitate the trade might be if we agree to pick up a fair whack of a traded player's salary, particularly years 2 and 3. With so many high picks they're going to soon have cap issues.

The extra $'s may also help persuade the players to cross.

That could well be the case.Moller could be pretty handy bargaining chip as he's already in NSW.

Quite frankly, if we offer them Moller then we should be close. People talking Moller + 1st rounder + top 24 type player is just way over for mine. All reports are Moller = a first round pick. That's how I look at it, we're not talking proven stars here. Moller could well work out to be a better get than Hogan for all we know. Maybe not likely, but we're talking kids here.

The rumoured deal was
Richmond: Dyson
GWS: pick 9 +

GWS: picks 5 & 6
Dogs: Martin, pick 9
yep spot on IMO.

Best case for freo to hogan, 1st round, molloer+1 ( lower?) or even better, Kelly to a Vic club for any 1st round pick, hogan misses the mini has a dud year next year and we pick him up at pick 20 next year.

Moller + pick 16 will be the bare minimum IMO Papaj.I so hope we can get this last pick in the MD.

If Moller is rated a second rounder (checking the mock drafts thats about right) then pick 16 + (effectively) a second rounder won't get close unfortunately.

You just have to have a look at what the mini-draft picks last year got.
