if you're building a team: Judd
if you've already got a good team: Swan

my team sucks, so i'll go with judd. i could never see such a player representing my team though.

I really rate Swan, he's had an exceptional year, but I don't think he can singlehandedly lead a team fightback like Judd did today, he was inspirational

Judd is carrying a side right now, he carried West Coast.

One of the all time greats.

Dane Swan is a very consistent, blunt weapon.

He singlehandedly carried us over the line against Port Adelaide in Mark Williams' last game. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have beaten/drew with Melbourne. His influence is understated because he plays in a better team but that's not to say he can't lead the side. Maxwell would say how good his leadership was when he was out with an injury during this time.

I find it very difficult to rate someone who gets cheap possessions deep in the back line. Sure it may be hard running, or lack of defensive pressure from the opposition, but i just dont like it.

I look at it this way as well.

I'd pay money to go and watch Judd, i wouldn't for Swan.

You must not think very highly of B.Gibbs!

Swan has been better than Judd for the last two years....what makes people think Judd will ever get back to his West Coast form?? And more importantly why will Swan come back to the pack??

Do people forget that back then Judd looked much better because he had Cousins, Kerr, Stenglein, Cox and Embley helping him.

Judd was heaps better than Swan last year, his second place in the Brownlow proves that.
lol Swan was a clear 2nd favourite last season for a reason. His last 2 years are well above Judd's and Juddy is on the decline so the gap is only gonna get bigger.

Swan was 2nd in the AFL players association MVP award in 2009.
Swan romped in to a win in the Herald Sun player of the year award in 2009.

In the three years since Judd arrived at Carlton, Swan has been the better player and Swan has been getting better with each season.

Why the feck do people think that Swan will stop and get worse, and Judd will suddenly get back to his WC 2006 form???

Judd was much better than Swan back in 2006, but Swan is now the best player in the game and a bloke who is improving every season.

Both at their peak, Judd is the better player.

Swan is closer to his peak more often.

This. It's the same reason I'd take Swan over Adam Goodes. Adam Goodes, at his best, is like Judd. That's why he won 2 Brownlows. He wasn't necessarilly the best player week in and week out. He was just insanely good for about 8 games.

Such a tough one, but I've gotta go with Swan on this one, assuming he maintains this form for years to come, whilst Judd is a proven player. You just have to go on form, and Swan has had it all year. If 2011 returns the same results from these two players, then I'd definitley take Swan.

I find Judd more entertaining though, but Swan is just a blue-collar machine. He gets like 25 kicks a game, 5 handballs. Sexy.
