In all seriousness, the footy media and channel 7 in particular do have this obsession with taking big names and trying to turn them into good broadcasters rather than the other way around. Cotchin, Selwood, even Erin Phillips, etc, have no aptitude for commentary but they're big names so give them a role. Contrast this to Will Schofield who is basically a no name but is an excellent speaker who can articulate himself and offers opinions. That's what we want to hear as the viewer, their reputation in the game means nothing.

Imagine hearing the expert thoughts of Gary Ablett jnr on air! Praise be!

Channel 7 thinks that the better a player you were, the more insights you have about the game.

Plenty of great coaches were just average footy players. And plenty of great players made s**t coaches.

Korns is an utter knob but I have to admit this was piss funny

Channel 7 deserve to be badly roasted for their atrocious coverage, and hiring players fresh out of the game with zero tv skills or charisma is an insult to the viewers.
Agreed, I'm no fan of any member of the Corne's family, but as brutal as Kane was on Cotchin it was unfortunately deserved, and it was funny.

The difficult part to understand is how C7 thought someone as bland and uninspiring as the bloke was as a footballer ( albeit he was at times effective), how that blandness would translate to special comments on a tv broadcast.

Assuming he did a screen test you would have thought someone in authority would have seen he wasn't going to cut the mustard and pulled the pin on it.

There is no doubt he is going to need a lot of coaching to have any chance of making the grade as a tv presenter.

The best segment Kornes has ever done, imagine getting sensitive over that lol bunch of babies.
Also enjoyed Matthew Richardson going back and playing the 'premiership captain' card when Kornes played in a premiership and Richo never so much as sniffed one.

Spot on, the product these days is terrible, and they just seem to be doubling down on it

It was all a bit juvenile but locker room humour is about their level. The Channel 9 panellists seemed suitably amused.

Most people in malbun would assume Port Power's Kane Korner never played in a premiership. Before Kenny arrived to save us we'd spent 15 years playing in front of tarps and finishing bottom every year

He really left himself wide open to a verbal attack from one of the ch7 people re his hypocrisy re Hinkley, but of course no one even cared enough to target him over it.
