Two players that will excite crowds for many years to come. These guys can do things that other players can only dream of. Both have electric pace, a great vertical leap, good hands and deadly disposal. Over both their junior and senior careers, they have shown that they deal in quality, rather than quantity.

Ignore the fact that Harper slid down the draft order, this was due to injury, not a lack of ability. I gather Rohan has also had some injury troubles of his own.

Rohan is just over a year older than Harper. Their career stats (14 games for Harper, 18 for Rohan over 2 years) are remarkably similar.

If either of these two players start gathering 20+ possessions a game, look out.

Wouldn't Rohan/Cunnington be the more apt comparison, from a draft perspective anyway?

Either way, Rohan. He's been great in the Swans late season charge.

Rohan and Cunnington play very different roles.

Harper is the player we recruited after deciding to pass on Rohan and add one more inside mid so the comparison is apt.

I'd say Rohan has the tools to be a more complete player - bit quicker, bit better overhead - but I have been hugely impressed with KHarps this year.

Wioth a few pre-seasons into him, the kid is going to be a jet.

This.
North passed on Rohan for Cunnington in 09.

I think the best comparison would be Rohan and Dangerfield.

Like how Harper goes about it though, expected more from Atley.

I'm not a draft expert but I'm pretty sure these guys were the midfielders that were considered to have the most upside from their respective draft pools.

They have almost identical attributes and statistics. Both players have shown flashes of brilliance at AFL level but also a tendency to go missing. The fact that neither has ever had more than 16 possessions in a game highlights that.

Rohan will probably get more support in this poll but I think you can put that down to him being an earlier draft selection and his good recent form (I'd argue that RD 23 and 24 were his only good games for the year).

Lance Uppercut - Not sure why Rohan would be 'ahead by country mile' given he's a year older and certainly hasn't outperformed Harper.

DawOfPerception - We didn't pass on Rohan to get Harps, Rohan was from the previous draft.

Atley showed a lot early on but struggled with a knee issue after about the middle of the season. It's glimpses like we saw against Geelong that are exciting. When he puts muscle on that frame he's going to be nearly impossible to tackle.

What I'm saying is we knew we needed a Rohan/Harper type skilled pacy player, but when we had the choice between Cunnington/Rohan we went for another inside mid - a decision that will be very wise as the years go past.

The next draft, we got Harper to address the need. If we'd got Rohan I doubt we'd have drafted Kieran.

Overall, I'm very happy with the way it panned out. Rohan will probably turn out to be bit better - he was taken at 6 and KHarps at 27 afterall - but in terms of the team and list, I'm gald we did what we did.

Pretty sure Harps fell down the order because of a hip injury or something like that. At some stage this year Emma Quayle described him as a steal of the draft because he's stayed fit.

I think Rohan could one day, at the peak of his form, could play as a 30+ possession, goalkicking midfielder, while Harper will be a Steve Johnson type. Either racks up possessions or kicks high amounts of goals, not regularly both.

Emma Quayle very much rates Kieran.

because that's my opinion. I think Harper will be good, but I think Rohan is going to be outstanding.

Hence, if I had the choice of the two players, I would choose Rohan by a country mile. In a heartbeat. By the length of Flemington straight. And by any other cliche you wish me to throw about.

Not to bag Harper, he's looked good when I've seen him, but Rohan looks a gun to me.

She is now that he's injury free, but she left him out of her top 25 before the draft.

Because of his injury concerns.

<Pretend that it's a tough choice>

<Token, condecending compliment about player from other club based on watching two North games this year and the highlight vids posted at the top>

<Long, in-depth analysis of best possible outcome of player from own club ignoring any shortcomings>

<Needless summary giving the impression that decision was weighed up carefully>

<Pick player from own club in poll>
