Because I am pretty sure it is still a fake, and looking into it a little more, it is almost definitely a fake, the guy has slightly done his homework, he found out a second review build was sent out to reviewers, and has fixed some of his errors from his first 'review', but he still talks the game down even though he gives it a 9.7, he is just a hit-counter whore and shouldn't be taken any notice of, regardless of the score.

Yeah I agree, definitely fake imo.
Found this discussion on his GTAIV review, which was apparently the first review of it...

Apparently in that review he confirmed that the PS3 version had split-screen :D

He also said that even though Microsoft paid $50m for DLC, the PS3 version gets its own mode.

Haha. He does reviews based on previews, that's probably why he hasn't reviewed multiplayer.

I posted that on the 360 thread just yesterday. No one wanted to watch it haha.

It looks 100x better on the gametrailers link I posted, youtube sucks.

When Killzone 2 advertising goes wrong

According to eagle-eyed users on Gametrailers.com, UK/AU retailer GAME has been posting advertisements for Killzone 2, featuring quite the PR blunder.

As you will see in the pictures below, the typo in the advertisement is supposed to read "Helghast". We're quite stumped as to how such a blunder managed to filter through quality control, though we imagine it won't go unnoticed by Sony for long. In the meantime, enjoy the snapshots below, taken from a GAME story in Sydney, Australia.

This is in every GAME store across Australia. Even on their website they spelt it wrong.

I saw this in GAME at Eastland and thought that there actually was a Hell Coast TShirt. How do you get Hell Coast from Helghast haha.

Killzone 2 first impressions from gamingnexus:

First things first,Killzone 2 looks amazing and raises the bar for graphics in a game. Period, end of discussion. I'm sorry Gears of War 2, it was a nice ride while it lasted but you're now number 2 on the list. Killzone 2 does falls just a few yards short of the pre-rendered footage from the 2005 E3 presentation but it meets and in some places exceeds the graphics that Sony showed off at E3 this year. The level of detail and fidelity raises the bar for the entire industry in terms of realism and quality.

And here's a cool HD video somebody made for Killzone 2, youtube.

I just brought Bioshock to fill in the time untill this game comes out.

Pretty disapointed with it to be honest. Pretty average so far.

February 26th.

Which means I still have to endure a month of this crap.
...Or you could just not come into this thread? Or you could actually get on the Killzone 2 bandwagon?

Interesting that they say it doesn't meet the pre-rendering apart from some bits, as all the comparison vids from the 2005 seems to beat it pretty comprehensively.

Or I couldn't.

Even if I didn't come into this thread I'd still have to hear this crap. You've even smeared it all over the 360 thread.

It seems that one thread isn't enough for the GREATEST GAME EVAR!!!111!!!!

Nope, I didn't, I might have mentioned it a few times while in the conversation about it, but I wasn't the one who brought it up.

Killzone 2 is only a short month away from hitting shelves, but the game will definitely be worth the wait. The single-player experience is a truly enjoyable campaign across the Helghast home world that will test your skills, particularly on the higher difficulty levels, and the game simply looks phenomenal for a console shooter. But perhaps the strongest segment of the game is the extremely deep multiplayer, which gives seven basic classes with which you can create your own customized super-soldier after performing your class-specific duties. Not only did Guerrilla achieve a milestone of delivering a great exclusive title for Sony's PS3, it delivered one of the better shooters to come along in a long time. Get your hands on this game.

9.5 Presentation
Everything from the first entrance onto the battlefield to the last cutscene creates a hectic, fun and fast-paced thrill ride through a warzone where each step you take could be your last.

9.5 Graphics
Phenomenal visuals prove that Guerrilla either met or surpassed that infamous E3 trailer. Some technical issues hold it back from being a completely flawless masterpiece.

9.0 Sound
7.1 channel sound captures every nuance of the battlefield from gunshots to screams along with a great soundtrack. Weakly delivered, curse-filled dialogue (sans Brian Cox) could've been done better.

9.0 Gameplay
You'll have to get used to the firearms as well as the AI on both sides. More turret and vehicle sections would've been great, but outside of that, the single-player campaign is fun to play through.

9.5 Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer is extremely deep and has the added bonus of an offline skirmish mode. This is where you'll spend the majority of your time once the credits roll.

OVERALL 9.4

End line, Killzone 2 is, by IGN's definition, outstanding. It is consistent in every respect and is testament to the talents of the developer as well as the power of the PS3 in the hands of a team that knows how to use the hardware - and who have the full support of Sony behind them. In the same stroke, it is not the be all and end all of console shooters, or even shooters on the PS3 - but if you've read this far and you're one of the Killzone devout, you probably won't care anyway. You can rest easy knowing it was ultimately worth the wait.

8.5 Presentation
Minimal HUD keeps you immersed and menus are pretty easy to follow. The simulated CRT screen effect takes getting used to, but it's pretty nifty. A map fuction might've been nice.

10 Graphics
Holy wow. Arguably the least important category, but Killzone 2 cranks out some wonders. Guerrilla Games, you delivered on your promises. Congratulations.

9.0 Sound
7.1 mixed sound, a full orchestral score, entertaining voice acting (iffy script though) and all manner of things that go boom. Killzone 2 sounds like money.

9.0 Gameplay
Solid as a rock, but somewhat generic. The cover system stands out as the most interesting element, but what K2 lacks in originality, it makes up for in polish. Plus, mechs equal thumbs up.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
Nine hours goes by very quickly, and that end section adds insult to injury, Thankfully, multiplayer is rich and rewarding and bots are back. Yay! Roll on DLC.

Is it real purty lookin’?

Speaking plainly, Killzone 2 is one of, if not the, best looking console games money can buy. From the second it loads, Killzone 2 will grab your eyeballs and make sweet love to them down by the fire. There may even be times when a cutscene will make your jaw involuntarily drop, and then detach completely from your skull when you realise the ‘movie’ has seamlessly given way to in-game action.

All of this eye candy is possible thanks to Guerilla Games employing special deferred rendering techniques which allow for extensive post-processing effects, including high dynamic lighting in complex geometry environments, and Multisample Anti Aliasing. What does all that borax mean in practical terms? It means Killzone 2 marches other console shooters to the existing benchmark, and unceremoniously bends them over it.

Closing comments

Killzone 2 is a stunning game best suited for FPS aficionados, rabid graphics whores, and all proud PS3 owners in general. Guerrilla Games have stepped up to the plate and delivered very comparable results to “that preview video” that blew our collective minds in 2005. Using Guerrilla’s proprietary ‘deferred rendering engine’ Killzone 2 squeezes a lot more juice out of the PS3 than anything we’ve seen thus far.

Despite scoring an ‘A -’ on voice acting and sorely lacking co-operative options, Killzone 2 bounces back with a very well realised competitive multiplayer mode. This icing on the cake successfully maintains the visual fidelity of the single player campaign, while including an addictive class/perk system that will keep PS3 owners happily in ‘the kill zone’ for a long time to come.

In our opinion, Killzone 2 has managed to avoid becoming a victim of the hype, but we still think it’ll be bashed by the same narrow-minded naysayers all the same. To those people, we say: experience it first (play, not YouTube), express your amazement afterwards.

The Verdict:
:thumbsu:Eyeball searing graphics
:thumbsu:Intelligent, reactive A.I.
:thumbsu:Innovative FPS cover system
:thumbsu:Solid, addictive multiplayer
:thumbsd:No co-op, 'meh' voice work

Super slick presentation and a rollercoaster ride to boot. Killzone 2 is a must buy title.

THE SCORE: 9.5
