Just finished the demo... major gripe is that its really quite short (my best time is 8-9mins so far after a few run throughs) but hey u expect that from demos i guess.

The actual gameplay is excellent, n the enemy are quite smart and will use cover all the time but at some point while ur in cover they will charge you, so u always have to keep an eye out. As HBK said the graphics are stunning and i was busy admiring the scenery quite a few times (which led to deaths :p ).

I didnt like the default button config n ended up using alternate 2 which i found to be the closest to most other FPS n just felt generally better.

All in all top shit rite here, download it rite now if u havnt and give it a whirl.

holy crap this is the toughest thing i've ever had to do.....(re gaming)

i'm on the ps store right now as i usually am on a friday to check out anythin new and the killzone 2 demo is staring me right in the face!

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the first thing you notice getting off the drop-ship is the heaviness of your player, you don't move swiftly or light of foot, your quite heavy on your feet, it really gives a sense that you are in this battle, your wearing the armour, your carrying this gun.

If you're afraid that the heaviness of your player will be off putting throughout the game you will soon learn that you ease into it very quickly, and moving from battle to battle there isn't any real need to be moving at a quick pace anyway, don't know what effect it could have on mutiplayer but you do easily get used to the player movement once your in.

god damn it.....

i knew they were trying to make u feel the weight of the stuff but the way you described it was the clearest yet....

and now it's making me worry about multiplayer movement as constant running and ridiculously quick reflex movements are a MASSIVE part of my fps skillset....

the heavy slow movement may f*** me up quite a bit....:(

Hahaha Camo, I know how you feel

I was deadset against d/ling the Ninja Gaiden 2 demo (and resisted the temptation). Knew the game would be kick a$$ so didn't bother

So wanted to though

I'll d/l KZ2 and let you know how it is :p

U'll find out that running and gunning is not the best strategy (in the demo at least) i mean it actually feels like ur carrying quite a bit of equipment and getting hit throws ur aim way off which is really fun n challenging.

I dont know how its gonna be in multiplayer but for the demo a straight up run n gun approach wont work, u'll b shaking violently in not 2 long

camo, can't you just turn up your controller sensitivity?
Yeah I should've said that I didn't try to change any of the sensitivities up or anything yet.

camo, can't you just turn up your controller sensitivity?

yes...easily

however that won't change the weight or movement of the guy and having the sensitivity too high on the controller makes it far too difficult for mid-long range shooting.

sure the majority of my kills will be close range but too high a sensitivity will make my shooting too erratic.

As I said though you get used to it pretty quickly and can adjust, it is tough to know how it will work in multiplayer, but it isn't as slow as a Dead Space or RE5 though, and of course there is still a sprint button.

lol....don't worry i've already had hbk msg'ing me over psn the prick

while i was on the store i decided to d/l a puzzle game called cuboid which has some pretty solid reviews behind it and that 3 on 3 nhl game even though it's gotton very average reviews so far (mainly coz the idiots are trying to compare it to a sim!)....all i want is something in the vein of nba jam where u can belt people and do some outrageous things...nothing too serious.

but yeh...that should be able to tide me over for a new game type fix/small gaming session whenever i don't want to sit down for agers like i will in the coming months

Killzone 2 gets more than 1.1mil+ pre-orders(And growing) in Europe alone.

EURO KILLZONE PRE-ORDERS TOP 1.1 MILLION
European pre-orders for Killzone 2 have surpassed 1.1 million units.

"The 1.1m pre-orders are for Europe only and that's [as] of last week," Sony told us after the figure was reported in today's Guardian.

Effectively Killzone 2's already a million seller in Europe then, which isn't bad going, especially seeing as the game's £2 million marketing campaign has yet to get into gear.

A demo's due on PSN at some point today, but in the meantime you can check out our Killzone 2 review ahead of the game's February 27 release.

i'm not talking about the single player at all though....i'll only do that in tiny spurts in the single player and it's not really a competition type thing...

running and gunning is the most effective/quickest way to get kills and i don't know just how good that will be with all the weight and movement you guys are describing...

but pretty much all comparisons of multiplayer have been a morph between cod4 and team fortress 2 so i don't think i have anything to really worry about

if i do after i finish the campaign you'll all hear about it.....for a couple of weeks i presume :P

Killzone 2 is finding itself being a heavy seller as it is, now even doing it in countries that aren't known for FPS loving, Japan, in which COD4 and Bioshock couldn't reach 50,000, has Killzone 2 sitting 8th on Amazon Japan's best seller list(2 months from release), even outdoing the hotly anticipated Square Enix JRPG Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

KILLZONE 2 EVEN POPULAR IN JAPAN
Japan is the equivalent of a no man's land when it comes to first person shooters. Even quality shooters like Bioshock or Call of Duty 4 have failed to sell anymore than 50,000 copies in the region. Which makes it even more surprising that Killzone 2 has reached a top 10 spot on Amazon Japan's video game best seller list.

Just last Saturday, Killzone 2 was announced for the Land of the Rising Sun, due out in April. Though the title isn't the best selling PS3 game, a spot held by Yakuza 3, Killzone 2 is sitting pretty at the number 8 spot. This is just shy of Resident Evil 5, and is even ahead of the highly anticipated 360 exclusive, Star Ocean 4.

Could Killzone 2 be the trojan horse western developers have been looking for to break into the region? We'll find out in April. Killzone 2 is a first person shooter, developed by Guerilla Games. The highly anticipated title is due out on February 27.

My impressions -

Graphics - This is NOT Crysis (mind you; i've never played Crysis on a 52" LCD before). It looks as good as Gran Turismo, but i'm more amazed by Killzone 2 because of the amount of on screen action. I was expecting more, but I can't say that i'm disapointed.

Gameplay - Plays exactly like CoD. As H said, it does feel a bit heavy, but it's by no means slow. I put my x-axis sensitivity up and it definitely counteracted the weight issues. Sprinting doesn't feel slow at all (think Soap MacTavish with a stitch).

Controls - I used alternate 2, because who in their right mind would have aim and zoom on the same stick!? I used the standard contols when I first played and it was the most uncoordinated thing I have ever felt in a video game. The alternate 2 button layout is fine. This leads to my biggest gripe in the game. The aiming doesn't feel as good as Resistance 2 or CoD. The acceleration curve is wrong IMO.

AI - Unusual to even talk about this in length, but I was impressed. They use cover and shuffle and move around whilst in cover to get a better shot. When you are reloading, they often move to closer cover or even charge you. They blind fire and peak around objects. Brilliant!

Being a demo and all, this is probably just a polished alpha build or early beta build and i'm sure that the final product will be even better. This is a must own game, and ffs camo, just download it. :p

Pffft. Slow moevement, cover system, brown, it's ****ing Gears you nonce. Not saying it's a bad thing, ****ing hell.
Not really, while I haven't played ALOT of Gears, this game is nothing like it, whole different kettle of fish, the cover system is fairly different too, and it isn't brown, more grey.:)

Yeah brown/gray. How is the cover system different? did Killzone 1 have a cover system?

nothing like it lol.

ok well if sprinting is like that then that is fine....i can live with that.

and i noticed the aiming in early videos months and months ago....but i don't think that will affect me too much as it's mainly the hip shooting close range that i will DOMINATE () with :)
in fact...the aiming in this might even help me as that is by far my weakest area of FPS (medium to long distance scope)...but who knows

and to the last sentence F.U lol
