Anyway, at the end of the day, you seem to be loving the demo, and chances are you will be loving the full game as it apparently delivers more of that same. And that's all that matters. Don't worry if a bunch of British elitist gaming snobs don't think it's perfect :thumbsu:
There is WAY to much for me to respond to there, so I'll mainly just respond to the last bit.

I couldn't really care what the reviews say, I'm going to buy the game no matter what, nothing short of a nuclear blast will stop me, however it is just when reviews come out like this you get pissed off because it is the unknowing consumer who can be swayed by such stances and scores, it's just that when you have a good game, it deserves the good score to go along with it, not a lower score which equals another score on other sites, it's just not right.

I understand most of your points and some are valid, Although I wouldn't think they are "They are, by a fair margin, the most respected video games publication in existence" at least not from the articles I've seen since this review, and they're still coming.

Edge's review of FFX was ****ing shit. It was the complete antithesis to what a video game review should at least try to achieve.

They've had no credibility since then...

92 on MetaCritic. Dropped since the Edge Magazine review was added.

A LOT of 100s.
Most are in the 90s.
A small amount in the 80's.
Then there's the 70/100 from Edge sitting by itself.

Jake you simply must bless us with your video game industry insight on a more regular basis.:thumbsu:
Haha good on you Mancey :thumbsu:

Hopefully when (if :() Kevin's $950 gets into my bank account I will be able to afford a new machine, and will be able to contribute to threads in here a bit more!

I don't think anyone is interested in talking about 5 year old PS2 games anymore :(

Speaking of which, anyone played Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec? It's got a Falcon XR8 in it!

I like that line of thinking, there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting behind something you are into :thumbsu: and I can completely relate!

Reviewers that give games like Killzone 2 100 scores are far worse than anything edge has tossed up.

I mean seriously. 100 = absolutely perfect game.

I mean, i'm sure its a very very good game, but even the most diehard fan couldn't agree with that surely

Haha, the percentage review scale is waaay too precise isn't it? It's one thing to give a game a 5/5 or a 10/10, but a 100/100 is stretching things a bit!

Mind you I used to love it in grade 7 when a percentage score was able to confirm for me that Super International Cricket (89%) really was a superior game to the Mega Drive's Brian Lara Cricket (87%). ;)

i agree

no game has or will ever deserve a PERFECT score....

gta4 having a metacritic average of 98 is beyond ridiculous.....
don't get me wrong i loved it but ffs there is no chance it is that close to perfection (especially considering it's an average score from about 60 reviews or something!!!!!!! (i didn't go to metacritic to get actual review amount numbers))

also that edge review was just to generate massive traffic you'd have to think....it's a review score so out of the norm you can't really understand it...
i know 7 is still a good score but when there has been nothing but ridiculous praise from all angles it's hard to see where they're coming from

i myself will form my own opinion on this game regardless of any scores...one thing i'm already a bit iffy on is the controls but i'm still keen as mustard to get this one started!

LOL. Such a n00b.

These scores get converted to a /100 scale. For example, PlayStation gave it 10/10 but MetaCritic converted it to 100/100 scale.

agreed, any fps that doesn't offer split screen multiplayer just can't be given perfect marks (regardless of how good it's online gaming is)

Hey! Who are you calling a n00b!

I know how metacritic works Kerrbs! :D But there are still quite a few sites and mags that still review in percentages, like gamespot and shit like that. They are what I and Mancey Pancey were talking about ;)

I imagine a few of those 100's are from playstation magazines yes?

I wonder if anyone actually takes any notice of the reviews in ps/xbox mags

Interesting, what was the 1 point deduction for, I wonder?

From the reviews I have seen so far, they all seem to have a few things in common.

1. Is that the enemy AI is brilliant and possibly the best seen in a game, your team-mate AI not so much.

2. Graphics are just as good as everyone thinks they are, best on a next gen console.

3. The last 45 or so minutes in the game are both extremely hard and close to the best seen in a story mode ever.

4. The could be the best FPS yet.

Just like to remind everyone what HBK told us a month ago, while trying to figure out why megagamers only gave Killzone 2 99 out of 100!?!?!?

Occasionally they get reviews right, but I stopped taking notice of magazine reviews when the Aussie N64 mag gave the South Park kart racing game 37% .

You're right. That score is totally incorrect.

That game didn't deserve anything over 15%.

Blasphemy  .

I know everyone hated it, but I loved that game :D .

I think Hyper was a mag who also had Crackdown in the top 100 games ever.

WTF? (It was at #100 FWIW)

Crackdown was awesome fun. Top 100 of all time...meeaaaaaaa awwwww....prob not :D

But it gave me access to the HALO 3 beta for which i loved it:D

Ah yes, the H3 beta.

I died about 12 times playing at a friends house before I knew how to throw a grenade.

A lot has changed since then thankfully :D .

I remember hiring that game about a decade ago. Good times. :thumbsu:

Are you serious? Didn't the 'I wonder' give the obviousness that I wasn't being serious?

BTW I wasn't trying to figure out anything, I was stating the similarities from the reviews I had read.

the multiplayer sucks. i can't believe they didn't include split screen.

who cares if you can play 32 other people online, nothing beats looking across the room and see your mates look of shock as you grenade him to oblivion.

I'm not a fan of split screen competitive.
It totally throws tactics out of the window because you can see where the other player is.

Co-op on the other hand.....

so yeh...who in here has killzone 2 in their ps3 right now???

oh nobody...?

oh wait.....nobody but me aye!
WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

SUCK SHIT KERRBY!

I'M THE BIGGEST KZ2 FAN IN HERE!

oh and for the record....

throw the visuals from the demo out the window.

you just wait til you see what this looks like on the disc....

the first visual you see will literally blow you away.

i mean i saw the demo and that was on a better tv than mine too but holy shit the starting sequence gave me goosebumps greater than i anticipated.
