Made some pretty significant changes in my draft order since the last update. Will continue to add more descriptions next time I edit this.

I like Smedts in the top 10. He's a really good player and can at both ends of the ground.

I really doubt we'll go for Wilkinson if Atley, Gaff or Polec are available.

Smedts is one of my favourites. Just one of those kids you look at and thing "gee. that kid has it doesn't he?" Has gone a little under the radar, but I think he should be a top 10 or top 15 selection. The kid is quality.

Wilkinson is a very, very speculative selection and an interesting selection more than anything, particularly this early when more widely viewed as a 2nd rounder +. Big fan of his and the development I have seen has been massive. Project player, but I think once he develops he could develop into one of the best in this draft class and I see him as being a really nice compliment to Harwood and Rich in the midfield long term. Big call but just one of those prospects I'm very keen on and I see as being a really nice fit. I think he will be one of those nice surprises at the draft combine. Should interview well and I think in much of the testing will do very well.

Certainly Atley, Gaff, Polec and Darling amongst others will be looked at very closely if available at 10. All of which at this stage would be outstanding selections. Brisbane would have to be excited to have those names available to choose from I'd say. All quality kids.

You are probably right but for now I'm making it a much longer draft than will happen. In reality some teams will only use 3 rounds including rookie promotions so this is more than anything at this stage to get a few names out there.

With the Pies picks I had a better idea at the names they are looking at (though I don't believe in reality we will select Sewell).

Horlin-Smith is a relative unknown and one of the "surprise" guys who might not be on the radar of many here. Essentially he is a bit of a Tom Rockliff. Can win the contested footy and is quite a creative player. Good user of the footy. Duel sided. Not an outstanding athlete but a real footballer. Far from ready to go at this stage but I can confirm that Collingwood do rate him highly. In my view is a 2nd year ready to go player.

Up until recently i've had him in the 20s to be honest. Not that I don't rate him, he is one of my favourite prospects in this draft. He will be a top rate midfielder, that I have no doubt, but I see a few others as more attractive to some clubs because of their perceived "high upside" and because they can do a few more special things (Harper, Smedts and co). But with that said I wouldn't put it past him to go higher either.

Yes I have considered that and it is very likely possibility. I will include that at a later date once the ladder positionings are all sorted. Essentially this list at this stage is more than anything just to get a list out of some of the prospects who are likely to get selected in the draft.

Dont be surpised if Horlin-Smith is a late first round or second round pick. Collingwood super keen, as are several other clubs. Very good cicketer (Australian under age player) who has had a tough choice to make.

I have heard good things about Horlin-Smith and I have heard likewise Collingwood are keen. I think he will go in the national draft, possibly as a 2nd-3rd rounder.

Would be interested to know what makes you think he could be a possible 1st rounder? Sound like you might know a fair bit about his game. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on him + why he might go so high. Certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility. The Panther seemed pretty sure Collingwood are interested.

Interesting to hear about the cricket part. Alex Carey likewise was from a cricketing background last year. I think Snoop was keen on him, in the end slid through the national draft.

Will be interesting to see where and who he gets drafted by.

After: Day, Lynch, Darling and Cook unless there is a last minute player outside this four I don't think there will be.

The next lot of KPFs should come into consideration late 2nd- early 3rd, but even at that stage not all that keen on any of those left. For WC specifically it might come into consideration in the 3rd round if there is one the club likes.

Luke Mitchell could be a steal this draft, obviously his stocks haven't risen this year due to his shoulder injury but looks to have all the attributes to hold down a key position.

Has decent speed, takes a good contested mark and is a pretty good set shot.

I think West Coast should have a look at him with our 2nd rounder, esp given our bonus PP.

Hi all. Would like to inform that I have changed my username. Had troubles for some time with my account with pages not loading and comments not working. Today couldn't even log in so i've changed my username.

Will in a week or so make a new thread, add a few more draft profiles and update my draft order again.

:D

I'm not sure whether it is because previously I logged in through facebook. But have this time around registered through bigfooty and has been working fantastically today for the first time in 2 weeks so no complaints. Couldn't log in at all today to my account so I decided this was probably my best option.

I was thinking maybe it had to do with there were too many people using the site considering it is finals, but this account works while my old one doesn't seem to so I'm happy with the change.

Will just have to wait another week till I can start a new thread then I'm set and I can update my latest draft position changes + descrpitions.

if i were you , o would ask the administrators to give you the credits from your previous account ............... your 1 of the people most respect here & its deserved to be a ''senior'' poster here !

i know it hasnt got to do with drafts of youngsters but would like your opinion on the richmond trade if the following happens

tambling for everitt
polo for houli
2nd pick for sherman
mcguane for grigg

in your opinion would these players be the correct trades & improve the list by much !

Don't know much about what difference being a senior member makes but I can make my own threads from early next week as I understand it so that is pretty much the only thing I need.

Thanks for the kind words and happy to give some views on trades.

Tambling for Everitt for mine is not a bad trade for the WBD and I think they could be big winners in this trade. I certainly think it is a very realistic trade because I do see it working out well for both teams. Everitt would no doubt get more opportunities with Richmond and could become a productive player. I think at this price Tambling would be a bargain for the WBD. Very appealing option for mine who as a HBF and would be a very good replacement for Harbrow. For mine of these this is the only realistic trade which for Richmond I might consider, but I do think Tambling will have currency, so there could be some other surprisingly reasonable offers from a range of clubs.

Polo for Houli probably not. Not sure where Richmond see Polo's development but at his age and having not been a perminant fixture in the side in 2010 he might be facing the chop and I'm not sure why Essendon would really be all that keen. Houli depending on the new coach might even be retained rather than traded, but I do think he is keen to move and more than likely will. Richmond certainly have the interest there, but it would take a fair bit more than Polo to get Houli. I think a deal can get done, but it will take more than this with other clubs also interested.

2nd round pick for Sherman sounds likely and both teams sound interested and the way it has been talked about sounds like almost a done deal. To be honest I would advise Richmond not to go down this avenue. Sherman is a quality player, reads the play well, but I do see him as a player who in a weaker side will struggle. Sherman showed it this year. When Brisbane struggled, Sherman struggled, last year when Brisbane had a good year, so did Sherman. Inject him into the Collingwood side and I think he could become a really productive player, but for a developing side still working their way into the top 8 I would highly recommend against it. Simply put adding Sherman would be like adding McMahon (this isn't to say for one minute Sherman is a bad player, I rate him highly, but only in a top 4 side). His value for mine is in the pick 35-45 type range (which is mid 2nd round - early 3rd round). I think Richmond could do better through the draft with that 2nd rounder. There will still be some good options available and if you trust my draft there will be some notable sliders who could prove very good value in the 2nd round. Will a side overpay for Sherman? It sounds like Richmond certainly might but I hope for their sake they don't because he really isn't a great fit.

McGuane for Grigg is an interesting one. I think Grigg does contain a little more value than McGuane on the open market and I think Carlton view him as the better of the pair. I have a feeling Carlton might end up with M.Warnock as their KPD solution which means they wouldn't persue McGuane. Tarrant is the other possibility, though considering his age I would say he is the less likely of the pair because he won't realistically be around during their next premiership window. Still an interesting one and I can't say it won't happen, but I don't think it is all that likely.

who would you say has the most elite kick out of the mids (excluding bennell swallow) heppell, polec, smith, gaff??

I'd go with Jayden Pitt. Doesn't have the penetration that Heppell or Polec do, but his kicking is elite. Pin point and just so classy, almost has the feel of a Scott Pendlebury.

My top 5 kicks:
1. Jayden Pitt (Pin point)
2. Blayne Wilson (Duel sided. Kicks both feet 55m accurately pin pointing targets. For mine the other elite kick of this draft)
3. Dyson Heppell (Long left foot from defence is a highlight)
4. Sam Crocker (Has a long left foot. Bit of a smokey but I see him rising up the draft order)
5. Jarrad Polec (Has nice penetration and very good by foot)

No need for the new account. The admins are well aware of the technical problems and are have the tech monkeys working on a solution.

Cheers Vader.

Yeah had been having troubles for some time and couldn't even log in with the old one so it wasn't much use to me.

If it's up and working that is awesome. Will try it again later in the week, but if still problems I might as well just stick with this one. Working perfectly and don't have to continue refreshing 2-3 times for pages to load or for comments to post which suits me.

what about the big backman Watson...He has a nice long kick which would be very handy in the AFL

Amongst the KPPs certainly like his kick. There are a number of others I also could have included.

Watson's kick is huge and I see it as a real weapon in years to come from defense. Certainly amongst my top 10 in this draft kicking wise.

It's hard to rate best kicks. I tend to base it more on all round kicking ability in all types of different situations including a range of criteria, penetration is certainly one aspect I put a high value on.

Hey Knight

Can you tell me a bit about Jake Bachelor?

VC rep, Stingrays member..

Can confirm that Collingwood is interested in the kid, brother cleans his pool (parents) and saw collingwood people at the Bachelors house, asked about it and Mrs Bachelor said "yeah, they've spoken a few times to Jake, they're going to take Jake with their third round pick if he is still there"..

So take it with a grain of salt, but yeah passing on what I have heard :thumbsu:

Interesting one that and I wouldn't discount it.

I don't mind Bachelor's game and really should be in my draft order. Had a good season and he is in contention to go late in this draft.

Medium defender. Collingwood have more than enough of these types and with Goldsack who will again next year be pushing hard for selection it is hard to see him as a fit in defense.

Some notes on Batchelor's game: Long left foot kick. Takes the game on. So a bit of an attacking backman. Strong overhead. Draft range: mid ranger-rookie.

If indeed Collingwood do pick him he would I expect he would be drafted as a forward. Few people saying Horlin-Smith might go 1st/2nd round for the Pies. Now Bachelor in the 3rd round. Both would be used in similar positions so I don't think we would go with both, but one or the other certainly might be a possibility. Certainly room for a medium size forward. My pick for Collingwood would be Kieran Harper if available in the 1st round, has star potential and in a good side would look it sooner rather than later.

But any of these players could be good options for the Pies.

Thanks for the info.

What is he like one - on - one?

Am I able to continue picking your brains out Knight? :D

What are your thoughts Corey Buchan? Despite him only being 187cm, he plays a lot taller than he looks and is a good mark. Has a good shot at goal (obviously for a Full Forward :D).

Just wondering, where do you see him in this years draft?

And also Callum Currie? another player I would love to know a little bit more about..

Thanks Knight

I would be surprised if he is still there by the end of the 3rd round. Showed rapid improvement this season and has midfield potential.

hey Knight, any chance that Heppell will slip t the Lions at pick 10? or will we have to hope the GC give as a generous pick like #7 for brennan to have any chance?

Also, I get the feeling Darling's stocks will go up again and end up at the eagles at pick 4...what are your thoughts on darling? Guys like him and Gorringe could really shape the draft in letting midfielders slip to teams like the Lions & Bombers
