I feel for the kid like nyhuis been throw in to play forward and produce a game winning performance and then been dropped only to be come back to the side because of injuries and get smashed.
People can only dream of that type of rollercoaster.

Delist

Hayden Ballantyne
Wants 2 years but will be lucky to get one year on bottom money. If he isn't happy with that see ya later Hayden
Zac Dawson
Retired
Garrick Ibbotson
Retired
Danyle Pearce
I hope they pay him to retire.
Jonathon Griffin
I hope they delist him. I think Stramatica needs to be developed as I think he shows promise
Zac Clarke
Unless he is 100% his time is up
Joshua Deluca
Makes Suban look like a star
Sam Collins
He will never be best 22. Time to let him go

Grey Sutcliffe Sheridan Crozier and Spurr might also need to go /be traded

That's 13.

And misses Yarran. And doesn't mention Balic. Should have us getting some "quality" in the 8th round of the draft.
Great club culture outside best 25 .
Add in
Nyhuis
Uebergang

Think 10-12 would be the range of players gone.
Griffin will probably call time after he finishes playing for Peel. D. Pearce as well.

So that could make:
Retirements:
Dawson
Ibbotson
Griffin
D. Pearce
Ballantyne

Traded/Delisted/Gone:
Yarran
Balic
Zac Clarke
Collins
Spurr?
Sutcliffe?
Suban?
Sheridan?

Rookies:
De Luca?
Grey?
Nyhuis?

There's 14-16 players on the list.

Crozier should be offered another contract, he was good toward the end of the season. Taberner proved he is safe and deserves a minimum 1 year contract.

Duman, Strnadica and Uber should be safe, for another year..

Expect the list culling to happen after Peels finals. Don't want to begin doing it this week, then give no motivation for players involved. Give them something to aim for, win a premiership.

I don't really think the club makes too many decisions based off Peel finals. Most of the decisions would already have been made or would be getting made in the next week or so when Lloyd, Bond, Ross etc discuss the list. Few things may change in depending on trade period and/or contracts but otherwise most things would be decided.

If Peel finals really mattered Silvagni and De Boer would still be on our list.

Very true. Remembered seeing De Boer, after winning the Peel premiership, that he was reluctant to sign any Freo gear when normally he's a top bloke. Had that look in his eyes that he knew he has been delisted and told early on in the season. Silvagni looked disinterested around the Freo fans. I know it's analytic but just remembered leaving feeling as if they were tapped on the shoulder etc. early on.

Deboer and silvagni on the main list though and their age, wages are the factor .
You are dreaming if you think players in this draft drop to rookie pick are better .
My guess Deboer and silvagni will be on 200k a year each with freo. Mayne and Barlow will be on 280k, c.pearce ,gu plus Pav retirement all this paid are automatically even up by the inclusion of b.hill, hamling ,Kersten and cam Mac.

We only need 6 players to retire , be traded or be delisted to enter the draft so all those posting more than that are not being realistic about where our list is at . Fremantle IMHO will keep pick 5 and attempt to trade max 2 players out for 2nd round draft picks . So far Yarran ,Dawson , Balic and Ibbo are gone .
Of the players out of contract for next year Clarke would be in the firing line . Like so many I agree that D Pearce should retire .There are no Rookies next year as far as I'm aware .All players recruited will be on the main list so the option of placing him on the Rookie list is gone . I stand to be corrected if this is not the case .
The players that maybe offered up for trade maybe Sheridan ,Sutcliffe and Crozier. Spurr won't be going anywhere as RTB rates him as does the playing group . Johnson and Mundy have both stated that they are prepared to go if the Club so decides but they are required players IMHO .

 no rookies ?

Changes to the rookie list
Some significant changes have also been made to how the rookie list will function, and the wages that rookie-listed players will receive.
The rookie list minimum wage will now increase to $71,500 per year, and Category-A listed rookie players (those taken in the rookie draft) will be eligible to play senior football in 2018 without needing to wait for an elevation to the senior list.
Clubs will still be required to list 4-6 Category A rookies, to make a total of 44 combined with the required 38-40 senior listed players.

They will also be allowed to list as many as three Category B rookies (rookies signed internationally, from another sport, or through other unique circumstances), but are not required to have any if they do not wish to.

I personally think we will be stacked with Rookies again (6) unless we do significant trading this season. Not a big deal either since Rookies can play next year without being upgraded.
My question is if you trade in quality , they cost money. You can't just keep buying without selling or delisted players with good coin .Hawthorn trade Sam mitchell,Lewis ,b.hill because they are on good coin . Lake and Hale are on good coin also during their threepeat . Good player cost money ( Reason behind GwS players departure)

You mean salary cap? We don't have many taking much and most of those are old. Fyfe, Sonny, Billy and Neale would be on the good stuff. Not sure about how many others under 27 would be. Maybe Cam but not sure.

Our salary cap issues will come in 3-4 years when we suddenly have to pay Blakely, Weller, Cox, Ryan etc better money.

My estimation top 10 earner
1) Fyfe
2) Bennell
3) Walters
4) Neale
5) Sandi
6) mundy
7)hamling
8) s.hill
9)b.hill
10) cam Mac
------------
Currently on freo list on higher wages than ( Weller, blakely, langdon before they signed their extension )
Sherrden
Suban
MJ
Griffin
Sutty
D.pearce
Lee spurr
Croz

Forgot Hamling. Bennell will be above average but not massive because of his well documented issues prior to trade.
Mundy and Sandi have 1 (maybe 2 for Mundy) years left.

Much of the bottom list will be gone (or depth -> under average wages) by the end of next year.

So I say it again, I don't think we have a short term salary cap issue. We do need to be careful to balance it now to cop the increases in a few years, but bringing in players now I doubt is an issue. Especially since we can have 6 rookies and I think we will.
