Didn't watch tonights game. I'm not underrating his achievements when I say he could be a lot better I mean I think he should be in the top 2-3 small forwards in the comp, rather than the 5th -12th bracket which is about where he sits atm. The fact he has done reasonably well in a challenging environment just confirms to me what he could do in a good team.

Garlett was among the top 5 small forwards last season. Over the last 4 seasons since establishing himself in the Carlton side, he'd be in the top 5 as well. Not sure why you reckon he'd be ranked anywhere around 12th unless you underrate his achievements.

Considering Breust ability to kick goals up on equal 4th after 5 rounds averaging 3 a game and also being one of the highest if not the highest (not quite sure of the numbers) goal assist average in the league last year I would be pretty much amazed if anyone but Carlton fans chose Garlett.

Breust actually sets up goals for everyone else more than converting and works up the ground a lot better. Breust averages more tackles, contested possies and disposals/disposal efficiency per game and is a more all around player.

What a load of rubbish. Even the stats you put up say that's rubbish. Jeffy gets more kicks and runs and carries more, Breust gets more handballs in close. Both have similar clearance stats. Both have a similar split between contested to uncontested possession - with Breust averaging one point something more of each with his 3 extra handballs p/game.

Those 0.4 goals p/game btw equate to 10 goals over the 25 games Breust played. That's not an insignificant difference for a small forward to bag 10 more goals than his comparison. Interestingly, you talk down this difference, while talking up Breust's assists, in which he averages ... whaddya know ... 0.4 more p/game than Jeffy. I'd take a goal over an assist any day thanks.

And yes, Breust lays 1 more tackle p/game, but I'm not sure how that equates to one doing stuff all and the other being one of the best small forwards in the league.

I agree that Breust is a more rounded player. I agree that you could argue he had a better season last year. But I don't agree with anyone claiming Breust was easily better and Jeffy did stuff all other kick some goals.

Over last season it's been pretty close. Over the last two years Breust has been better. Over the last three years Garlett has been better.

Nothing easy or close in it aside from their performances so far this year, where Breust has been a clear winner.

Not sure what exactly is up with Garlett at this point in time as he is going through a bit of a slump - especially in comparison to Breust, who is having a brilliant season.

Not sure what's up with Jeffy either. In a big form slump. Maybe Betts leaving has affected him. He became a father over the preseason too; perhaps being a first-time Dad to an infant has had an effect. Whatever it is, I hope it isn't too long before old Jeffy comes back. Meanwhile Bruest is tearing it up. Probably the best small forward in the league at the minute. There's not much comparison here this season.
