Player Watch Mark Keane (Retired 2022)

He deserves an extended run but he doesn't appear to have many tools

Not a great leap, a little too short, not particularly strong or fast, doesn't read the ball particularly well.

He’s an Irish project player but the expectations on him are too great.

That’s what happens when Hine has neglected KPP since the 2006 draft when he got Nate Brown/Ben Reid.

He keeps picking mid size utilities with no weapons. It’s bloody lucky we got Roughead for nothing from the Dogs to fill the FB spot. Before that it was Dunn!!!

He clearly isn’t up to player on seasons pros like Kennedy and Darling. Whether there is another role for him don’t know, but it isn’t as a KPD any time soon.

‘You have to question the stupidity of picking this game against such a big experience team to drop Cox and play Moore forward. It was always likely to end in tears. Yes it worked In the first quarter but what were the chances Grundy would kick 2. Was never likely to last 4 quarters. Howe going down didn’t help but it was not the main factor.

The Selection Committee is doing my head in.

Still keen.

Nasty business trying to earn your stripes as a key defender, especially without Darcy Moore and Jeremy Howe alongside you in a West Coast offence.

It took time for Madgen to win our hearts...let's be patient with the awkward looking Irish fellow.

Madgen hasn’t won my heart. He’s a plodder and the fact he is a guaranteed selection says more about the list.

He has been the best of our key defenders tonight. In saying that, it really wasn't hard to be the best tonight with Magden and ROughead both playing abysmally.

Best defender? I think he’s had 8 kicked on him.

He seems to know less about footy than Mason Cox, that’s pretty impressive.

Yeah he had a few kicked on him but he’s a second game kid. He’s against a seasoned forward line and the way they could walk it inside 50 tonight, we could’ve had a prime Presti down there and the result wouldn’t of changed too much.

If they want to persist with Moore forward, leave Keane down back for the season and make a call when he’s played 15 odd games.

No way Magden has “won our heart”. Surely you jest!

The guy is a plodder, but probably suits Bucks game plan

Wtf have you been watching? He's been absolutely spanked from the 1st minute to the end
Did you watch Magden and Roughead? WOuld much rather stick with him then have to bother with a 28 year old magden who isn't getting any better whereas Keane may

I think we should stick with him for a while. This was a ridiculous game to bring him in as a KDP and play Moore forward. With Kennedy, Darling and Allen it was not like Keane was getting a bog average third tall. We have not done him any favours in the two games we have picked him.

It's called the Appleby Method.

Yep, not sure anyone could have stopped the West Coast talls that quarter

Still got beaten in his only contest down back. Keane did fine
Do you go out of your way to be contrary?

Nothing about Keane’s game was “fine” tonight. That said, it was a Hail Mary selection by Bucks to try and buy some flexibility. Would like to see Keane against a side that doesn’t have talls as lethal as Allen, Darling and Kennedy because the kid definitely has attributes but looks like he’s a big time confidence player and throwing him to the wolves doesn’t do a lot for that
