First time at the MCG and all I can say is it makes Subiaco Oval look like a third world stadium. Even with a full house there was barely a line for the toilet and a beer. Great stadium!!

It is a great stadium, hopefully people of WA will get the quality stadium they deserve soon enough. When is the new stadium meant to be finished by?

I was surprised at how quickly you could go to the bathroom and grab some food with time to spare before the next thing started.

Yep lets just hope Colin the emperor doesn't decide to postpone the stadium now that he has cocked up the credit rating

I thought this was going to be about how

a) we could use an MCG game plan that successfully deviates, to match how subi play is a success
b) the AFL needs to give us more games at the G in the season so we aren't so bemused by the adjustment!

Hahaha after going to the G and Etihad this year, I was sooo embarrassed by Subi...

Yep no matter how much losing hurts, its been great to experience the federation square crowd, march to the G and watching a game played in one of the worlds truly great stadiums.

First time I've watched freo interstate and its still been great. No cues, full strength beer and decent food, what a treat. I did notice that there was no radio commentary playing in the toilets so maybe our new stadium can trump them there :-)

Yes I agree, I think the AFL should give Freo more games at the MCG but it's hard because only Richmond, Collingwood, Melbourne and Hawthorn have their home games at the MCG, they are the tenants there, the MCG is their home ground.

So every time Freo play the other Victorian teams in Victoria, they will play them at Etihad because Etihad is their home ground - not the MCG. The only exception is Geelong who have Skilled Stadium, which means as you know - you will play them at Skilled Stadium when playing them in Victoria.

All the rest (Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs) will be played at Etihad.

We asked to move our games back to the MCG after the AFL lied about the Docklands arrangement, however, they will not let us because of shitful agreements they made with the stadium owners.

That's a shame. I'm glad my team has the MCG as it's home ground. Not a fan of Etihad.

I like watching footy at Docklands, having a roof is handy in the middle of winter.

I like MCG too though.

I don't like docklands because my team Richmond struggle there for whatever reason. Apart from that it's a great ground to watch footy and the roof helps when it's pouring outside.

Cheers.

Freo will be better next year with MCG scheduling, not that it was the issue tonight.

Hawks there at home is a certain, as is the typical Melbourne, Richmond, and maybe Collingwood.

We're a Grand Final team!

One of the biggest factors about who plays at the MCG is crowd size.

You're never going to play North there for example, and even a game again Melbourne is fairly likely to be at Etihad. This will become even more so with Carlton pushing to move homes (although contracts specify roughly how many games each ground gets, so that is unlikely to mean more games there).

If you get away games against Collingwood, Hawthorn and/or Richmond, they'll be at the G, perhaps Essendon and Carlton as well, but I wouldn't bet on it. As for the rest...frankly, you'd need to produce a larger share of the crowd.

Wait what? Geez it must take ages over in Perth. I always thought it takes too long here. It can take up to 10 minutes to take a leak.

Haven't been to Subi but the MCG is an awesome stadium and all I've ever known.
I guess Subi sounds like some of the old grounds that Carlton, North, St.Kilda, Essendon, & Bulldogs had years ago. (And yep, I'd been to those nightmares)

Just goes to show we need to get all clubs, all around Australia to a stage where all their games are played in state of the art, modern, easy to access grounds.

And you guys showed up in force anyway at the 'G' so that must have made it a more pleasurable experience for travelling fans.

Cheers
