Imagine that! WOW, Eagles won't play finals nexy year if that happens.

The Eagles' picks or lack thereof won't make a huge difference in 2008. It would bite them from there onwards. But they could miss finals given the loss of Judd and Cousins... I doubt it.

The Eagles shouldn't lose the picks they traded for if they do lose their picks, they should lose their first 2 picks they had before Trade Week (13 & 30).

They are not preformance enhancing, There are phsycial advatages but there are cognitive disadvantages of addiction coupled with the fact that he was unable to train if anything they would be a disadvatage to be on as a professional athlete especcially as it got to the point he was unable to train.

We are not talking about a bloke playing on goey once or twice in a paddock league we are talking about a full blown physical addiction in a professional competition

His football never suffered... He was better. Who knows how long he was on it but Ben Cousins never got worse, he just got better and better and better...

Unless WCE end up with Richmond's list they will scrape together 9-10 wins from their home games and knock off some lower sides on their turf.

But I think they would be between 6th-10th and their finals stay short lived without Judd and Cousins but like this year...

Hed be an awesome pick up if other clubs didnt want him because of is off field problems.But we could give him a year to get his health back and if he promise that he wont take drugs again.

How exactly would he be an awesome pick up because of his off-field problems? I would have it would be despite it, if you were taking the line that he would be a good pick up at all.

He is deregistered from the AFL because his contract was terminated. He could still nominate for the pre-season draft, however it would then come down to a commitee whether that nomination is accepted. Unlikely, but the fact that he got off the charges put to him may possibly go in his favour. I'd expect him to have to take a year off to get right before he could think about returning to the AFL.

Yeah, Benny would be just the kinda player you'd love to add to a young developing list. While we're at it, we should get Chick as well. We'd certainly dominate the newspapers, if nothing else.

yeh the guy likes to party and he jumps on the juice but he just need a change. his a gun player wateva happend off the field has happend and he will be great asset to our midfield for the short term

He would be a great pick up, it would take alot of guts to pick him though. You would need to have him a a very tight leash, but you need to give people a chance no matter how many times.
He is a champion, and could have 3 years of showing the young kids how to train to the limits.
Pay him only on match performance...

You do realise that its much more than what happens on the ground, that counts to a Football Club, don't you?

Yes I do, we have a guy who wears No4.... oh he only drank a legal substance then went out to a bikies house etc... why did he walk into the police station the walk out????...might of had a bit more than the legal drink....
I think having a bit on mind expanding substance is okay....there is more a problem with drunks than drugs. If we can sort him out, then why not give Cousins a new lease of life.

The fact the drugs charge got dropped changes things ever so slightly... but still I wouldn't recommend it. Not this year at least. If we are interested, I'd let him go to rehab and when he gets back tell him we will need to drug test him for the entire 2008 every week, if every test comes up clean then we will draft him.

But then he will be 31 so maybe not worth it...

For FFS Didak made one mistake - Cousins has sytematically fallen apart over the last 4 years. Running from the booze bus, punching a teamate, liaising with gangsters, refusing to answer police questions about a shooting, caught with traces of illegal drugs in his car, attending a drug rehab centre.

It is not about the other day - why can't people realise this - the guy will be lucky to get out of it with his life. How hard is that to understand -he has a drug addiction.

If Cousins was truely addicted to some of the heavy stuff like ice as people have been saying he'd be a very sick boy. Even coke he'd have some more visible problems I guess. I don't think he is addicted too heavily, perhaps addicted to the whole culture more than anything. There is a difference between drug use and drug abuse. People can control their usage quite safely, lead normal lives yet still not be able to kick the habit. We don't know what his problem is and the extent of it.

I'm not saying we should get Cousins, I don't think we should, I don't think any club should. I think Cousins is unfairly maligned, as are most high profile people when a drug problem is revealed. He is not a bottom feeding drug dependant piece of scum. Whenever any involvement with drugs is revealed everyone seems to tar these people with the same brush.

I don't know. I have done more stupid and daft things than this and all the time I was 100% sober being a non-drinker (or semi-non-drinker at least).

This seems to be what keeps the various "authorities" happy these days.

If you're caught with drugs, apologise, admit you have a problem and go to rehab.
Caught with booze, apologise, admit you have a problem go to rehab.
Caught in Afgahnistan on the wrong side, apologise, admit you have a problem got to rehab.
Get caught sending your country off to an illegal war, say you don't recall that war and go home to Kirribilli.

What?? Mate the guy has lost everything. He is an addict - very familar pattern. What is it about what he has done the last 2-3 years that you do not understand. Rehab centres are not a holiday -they require giving up rights - you do not go there unless you have too.

If you need to get away from things you go on a holiday. His father has said he has an addiction - what more evidence do you want.

I think Cousins is a complete w***er. But you know what, if Collingwood drafted him, that first game he got 30 touches and kicked 2 goals i would be standing up, chanting his name and clapping him off the field, and i bet every pies supporter would be doing the same. I dont care what these guys do outside of footy, i go to watch them play and win.
