Don't think I'd want to rely on Lee. I don't feel taking him in the PSD or the Rookie draft will have any influence on our pick 5. We should take best available at 5. I am hoping we snare pick 12 off Sydney (Lovett + pick 23). Then it will make this process easier. Take Tengrove at 12, then pick a midfielder (hopefully Swift) at pick 5

Assuming he is there?

Lisle would do if he is not there. Not really fussed. If we have two picks in the first round it does open a lot of options. We could afford to go with a riskier pick 5 in Swift, then take a key back with pick 12. Tengrove/Lisle. Even opens the door to Yarran at 12 (don't want him at pick 5 but pick 12 would be a option)

Isn't Swift tipped to slide dramatically anyway with him more then likely to be available at pick 12?

Pick 5: Hurley

Pick 12: Swift

At this stage I'd be content with that.

Depends on his camp results. Todays speed result (very good) shows he is over his major injury. Clubs will have less of a concern of punting on him in the top 10 if he has a very good draft camp. Not sure Swift will be there at 12. Can see a club (Collingwood for instance) drafting him. I'd happilly go

pick 5- Tom Swift

pick 12- Jordan Lisle or Jackson Tengrove

Sh*t. Hurley may have done sub 3 seconds for 20m! Pick 5: Hurley. This is brilliant news if true. If we could get a gum midfielder with our 2nd pick in the draft I will feel much more confident looking into the future! Wow. Sub 3 seconds helps put to bed any doubts over his pace:):thumbsu:

Haven't seen any of Swift but reading around he seems to have a lot of fans and he had an incredibly fast 20m sprint. Looks like he is over his injuries though which would elevate him up the draft order. Wonder which club will bite the bullet on him.

I can see a club pulling the trigger on Swift in the top10 easily. I hope it is us at pick5!:D

Bullsh*t pick 5. I would not want to take such a risk as I feel we cannot afford too. An extra 1st rounder is the insurance I need in taking a gamble. Guess we'll have to let another club pull the trigger on Swift because at pick 5 I wouldn't.

Also Hurley's time is now coming into question. Bummer. Hopefully the initial report was correct.

Just posted by Cruiser23 on D&T board.. Interesting on Hurley if true---

This was the reply i got:

and are entered and updated as each group goes through so you only have one screen's worth of data to look at and at the end of the 20m sprint when all the participants had been through those 13 times were all that was on the screen. Sorry.

Watched Ziebell - from memory his times were above 3.00 secs - a bit slow but Sidebottom's were very slow. Hurley was a bit below 3.00, I think, and I was very impressed by him. Strauss was in the same group as Shuey, Swift and DeBoer but can't remember his times - sorry. Hartlett, Rich and Beams from that group didn't run. There were a lot of players around the 3.00 - 3.10 secs.

I'm sure results will be on the AFL website tonight.

Reading that, the times should be roughly
Ziebell was 3.00 - 3.10
Sidebottom was 3.05+
Hurley 2.95 - 3.00
hhhhmmm..... I doubt that Hurley ran quicker than Ziebell and Sidebottom, and below 3 seconds doesn't sound right. I'm not getting overly excited until the official results are posted.

Unless Rich falls to our pick we won't be getting a 'selwood' or a 'palmer' anyway. I do feel it should be Hurley but I would not be against getting my man Swift at pick 5.

Gee aren't you just the expert . How do you possibly know that one of Hartlett, Ziebell or Sidebottom cant have very good years next year?
Oh wait, I can't believe you said that anyway, I would have thought your undying love for Tom Swift would mean that you think he'll pull a Selwood next year. I mean, you would be in the best position to comment on Swift on BF, seeing as you have 'seen him play'

Courtney Johns ran a sub 3 second 20 metre in the pre season. That did not help him looking slow when the ball was in his area.

Yes, but Hurley is rated a tad higher then Johns was:rolleyes:

The quesries were that Hurley does not have sufficient speed of the mark and if the reports are true about his time I am much more confident that speed won't be such a big problem.

doesn't matter either way. 2.95 seconds or 3.05 seconds, neither are bad times, especially for a key backman. and in any case, this kid can READ THE PLAY, which is infinitely more valuable. being lightning quick is useless if you're running to the wrong places.

Each player gets one warning – if they miss one beep – they cannot afford to miss another one, as they will be disqualified from the shuttle run. An average draft camp run is level 13.3. A very good level is 14-plus and 15-plus is rare.

EDIT: Tyson Slattery any relation to Henry?
