But that would mean missing out on Sidebottom.
It's a sacrifice we have to make.
There is a fella on the Fremantle board, who seems to have a very good source inside the Dockers. He mentioned a week or so before Andrew Browne was re-signed that that would happen. Because he got injured again, there was serious doubt over this happening but his source turned out to be right.
He mentioned his source said that the Dockers will not pick-up Rich even if he was available and are dead set keen on either Naitanui and Hartlett. Makes a little sense, Hartlett would seem to compliment Palmer and Hasleby more than Rich would.

Boys and girls, I'm getting excited!!! Surely port would take Vickery wouldn't they??? I would be feeling more confident if Seaby had got his way in trade week....

Port rate Vickery as the best player in the draft behind Watts, it's as close to a certainty as you will get.

It may well turn out that way and i am saying that simply becasue i have been saying for a while that there is not much between the top 4 or 5 mids. They are all slightly different and have different qualities.
The only problem i have with this is recruiters don'y give out whispers. I have had good info on Essendon player contracts in the past but that does not say i have an inside line to what the top end of the recruiting staff are up to.
why does Rich have a God like status over east? I think some West Australian posters might be to blame for this. Personally, I think he is a bit of a front runner, the sort of player who is the icing on the cake, not someone you can build a midfield around. He is built like Hodge and kicks like Hodge, but he plays like Luke Power

So would I. Rich is a fine talent, I am just surprised that some people think it is impossible that Freo might overlook him. It's not like we would be passing on a Delidio or Gibbs

The more I think about it the more I can see it happening. Hartlett is pretty impressive. I guess Rich just stands out because of his physique but Hartlett may be a better long term prospect. I would be happy with either but am still very keen on Rich

I suppose it's his hype + talent. Everyone talks him up as a future superstar, and the game most Melbournians saw was his best one in the U/18's comp. His kicking is amazing for an 18 year old, and since we're lacking in quality midfielders for so long that might factor in it for me.

I would love to see Rich at the Bombers, although one of my concerns would be the fact we would be gaining yet another W.A. boy and it worries me that they may go home some day but if he's available we have to take that chance (get the best player available)
I think it'd help 'em stay more than anything.
They know each other so it's not as hard as it would be moving states to a place where you don't know anyone.

Could'nt agree more, but with families interstate it makes it more tempting for the young fellas to move on. Having said that you cant disregard every interstate player for this; It just worries meWho would wanna leave Victoria??.. They greatest state on Earth!
