I am putting up Results from the Respected Mock Draftees like Weaver,Snoop Dog and foj1 and Putting Pies Picks with Explanation and Video's.

Here we Go with foj1 Results:

Pick 11 Collingwood- Sam Blease
The pies will have the dilemma of choosing between Blease who they covert for his speed and creativity and Sidebottom for his ball winning ability and capacity to use the footy. I reckon they will go for Sam Blease who is an outstanding prospect. Blease has pace to burn, terrific vision with the footy and can kick exciting goals. Blease is going to need a couple of summers in the gymnasium but will be an exciting AFL footballer who will fit in nicely with Thomas, Pendlebury and Swan.

Pick 29 Collingwood- Ashley Smith
Smith had a terrific draft camp which would have boosted his stocks further. Smith’s strengths are his penetrating kicking and his leg speed. He has an AFL frame to work with however I would like him to be harder at the contest more regularly. I think Collingwood would look midfield here again with Suban and Deboer being in the mix. The other way they may go is tall with Roughead a possibility however Smith’s kicking and speed will get him over the line for mine.

Pick 45 Collingwood Zachary Clarke
Outstanding vertical leap from this tall young bloke and his footy especially improved in the second half of the year. Still has a ways to go in building his body and getting enough of the footy to make a dint on the game but I just think there is too much upside for Clarke not to be taken. Would be a good understudy to Fraser and Wood and Collingwood have a knack of developing talented youngsters.

Pick 46 Collingwood Patrick Hayes
Another outstanding athlete who developed nicely as the year progressed. Played representative hockey for Victoria and only decided to play footy this year as a 19 year old for Calder. Hayes tested exceptionally well for speed, agility, beep test and vertical leap at screening. Hayes played one game for Collingwood in the VFL this year where he apparently impressed. Hayes will need to continue to improve his decision making and kicking but is an intriguing AFL prospect.

Don't know enough about the second 2 but as a whole I would be pretty disappointed if we went that way in the draft. Whilst not a massive Sidebottom rap, I'd much rather him over Blease. If we were to take predominatly outside athletes in this draft I'd be worried. Blease is extremely soft and outside and for an outside sheep dog he just does not seem interested enough or get enough of the ball. He looks good when his got it but I'd be dissappointed if we read his name out at 11.

I can't see that draft being all that accurate it appears that he has drafted us on the basis of need, and had our need as outside players with pace and footskills. I think we need those two things but I don't think we have enough hardness at the ball to carry an exclusively outside player, so any player we draft should be at least adequate at winning some of their own ball.

I'm not a big fan in drafting Blease either. Sure he has skills and is very quick, but he isn't the type which we need at the moment. We need to take an inside player who can also play in some other positions.

Hopefully we can take one of Hartlett, Ziebell, Sidebottom or Swift.

All can play inside and also have other areas of expertise.

Swift-Inside and outside.
Hartlett-Inside and outside
Ziebell-Inside and any position besides KPP.
Sidebottom-Inside and forward.

Agree we Need Players who can Win the own ball and Can use it well not Outside with Speed Players.

2 Round 3 Pick are Interesting. Clarke who is 203cm, what I read has played mostly FF and Sound like a Taller Rocca type and Hayes who I know not much about but played for us in the VFL which tells me that could be a Chance of Happening

Again could be the guy doing it basing it on need, thinknig we need a foward without a great knowledge of our list, not sure though.

As for Hayes, I wouldn't read to much into him having played in our VFL side, we may think he'll slip to the rookie draft, we may want to draft him, we may have just needed players.

i wouldnt argue with the pick off sam bleese, but id rather we pick dan hannerbury with pick 29 and maybe go for a jarred blight pick45 and jayden post pick 46 ,looked awesome just what we need to help browny down back

That Zach Clarke guy has a booming kick, but didn't seem to actually aim for anything. I wouldn't mind Zaharakis at 29.

That guy who does the Blease vid and others annoys me. He's doing a great service but if he could just let the highlight run a couple of seconds longer, sometimes you don't see the kick land and you don't know what the player was trying to do because it cuts to the next highlight, also Pickering was talking about Blease and he cut that off too. I'm pretty sure it's not DTM and the person is doing a great service, but damnit let the highlights run a bit longer.

11 - Ziebell/Sidebottom/Swift/Hill - mid
29 - Hannebury/Taylor Hunt/Zakaharis - mid
45 - Tom Hill/ Jarred Redden - ruck
46 - Jayden Post - tall defender

Though you where talking about R Shaw;)

Blease looked alright in that clip but the one thing that concerned me was something that Liam Pickering said during the call.

It seemed to be the last quarter and Pickers said that Blease was coming up for only his 8th possession. That's where the clips are deceptive. Don't get me wrong, he looked good in what they showed but they obviously showed everything he did in the game. I know that it is only one game and I have no idea what he did in the other games but possession wise if he only had 8 poss into the last 1/4 I'm not sure that he would be the midfielder target that we require. So pass for me at Pick 11.

Blease's possession rate in the TAC Cup hovers around the 10 per game mark. I had a look one day and it is far from impressive.

His hurt factor is pretty sweet, but we need an outside sub-20 possie player with pace like Carlton fans need more stank!

He is bottom aged, and the likes of Dal Santo turned around a low possession rate to a high one (resulting in him being worth more than his Pick 13 selection), but there are many who hover around their younger possession rates.

For mine, he's a mile away from the type we need and I will be upset if we draft him (I reckon we will go tall).

Thanks for that info about Blease Figjam. Even with the Dal Santo under age comparison that possession rate is just too risky for mine at Pick 11.

I'm with you on the thought we will go tall with Pick 11. I just posted in another thread as long as a potential elite mid like Ziebell, Hartlett or Sidebottom doesn't slide to Pick 11 I reckon Hine's man will be Jackson Trengove. He may even be the man anyway!

The trouble with the short video packages is they don't really show the context of an individuals game as a whole and that TAC form seems to be a
pretty "hit and miss" format for selection.

That said I reckon Blease showed a bit, was willing to take on the oppo players, made good decisions when he had it and seemed to dispose well.

Besides we need a ranga.

Highlights packages is a very poor way to do it. Over the course of a season most players could be made look elite, at least in the field they do well in a highlight package.

Blease as I said was very very good when he had the ball in his hands. He just very rarely did have the ball in his hands and pretty much never got it for himself.

When these games are played, do any of our board members attend?

Not sure about board members but the recruitters have a fair network of people they get to watch the game. Not 100% sure on the Collingwood set up. One of my friends goes to a lot of the early games and lesser sides games and is part of a team that do a lot of stats work for another melbourne based club. Their opinions aren't asked on the game they just provide the data based on the criteria set by the recruiter. Running bounces, Kicks, Handballs, hard ball gets, etc. Intrestingly enough they are do not do effective and ineffective kicks and handballs or contested possesions, only hard ball gets and completed passes and incomplete passes. The data that they gather is just to try and make sure they don't miss anyone. I am pretty sure most clubs would have a similar system as it's hard for the recruiters to see every player at every game.
