Memphis bout to beat the Warriors for the second time this season. Im really liking their team at the moment, they are a decent squad to watch.

Yep, I'd say he's a cross between Baron Davis and Dwyane Wade.

Not as instinctive as either, but probably has a better basketball IQ than both.
What particularly do you like about his IQ over Wade? Defensively or as a playmaker? Just curious as I haven't really seen Rose play yet.

Billups wore Detroit Pistons shoes:

Just understanding his own game. Wade takes some bad shots and is a bit out of control at times with the dribble. Rose, if anything, doesn't take enough risks right now. Just constantly in control.

He doesn't have the pure PG vision of a Paul or a Nash, but he has very good recognition of when to shoot and when to pass. A bit like Billups in that regard.

Defensively he's decidedly average though.

Cool, can't wait to see him play.

What was he like in College as a defender?
He was known as a pretty tough defender. Although he never played against the better guards every week because he was in a shit conference.

Ditto PHX, I mentioned it more than once throughout today. It was against a seriously lackluster Spurs, but it was goddamn impressive.

It's also interesting because he plays left handed. He apparently does everything other than Basketball right handed, but when it comes time to play..he uses his left predominantly

From Bill Simmons before the season started:

C. Did you know that Atlanta's bench this year consists of Ronald Murray, Zaza Pachulia, Mo Evans, Solomon Jones and Acie Law? Really? That's your bench? The Hawks should just have Feces Night and have their cheerleaders shoot dog doo out of T-shirt cannons at their fans. What a disgrace.

So far I would say our bench has performed as good as any team in the NBA, Flip and Mo have been great as cheap pickups, Solomon Jones showed enough today, Acie is getting more confident and Zaza has been a beast on the O boards.

I couldnt understand that piece myself. Simmons was creaming in his pants last year about Acie Law, and after one season he's poo?

Flip Murray is a very handy guy coming off your bench, as is Mo Evans, and big Zaza is still only a young bloke with plenty of ability, and who has shown he can play at this level.

I usually like the way the Sports Guy thinks, but not there.

According to most Hawks officials Flip Murray has come to the side and is already a leader within the team. Journos like Simmons got way to caught up in the whole Childress situation and didn't actually give the Hawks props for getting some good bargain bench depth.

You are right PHX in the fact that the bench work well in a unit, so while we don't really have a sixth man we do have 4-5 blokes that can play solid D and get some baskets for 3-4 mins a quarter. With Josh Smith out for a few weeks it is going to be interesting seeing Zaza and Solo J get good mins for a few games in a row.

He definitely got caught up in the Childress leaving for Europe saga, as most Journos did.

It took Chauncey until he got to Detroit to learn that though. Prior to that his shot selection was a joke, and why he played for 4 other teams before we got him.

Probably true, obviously depending on who they can buy with the cap space.

EDIT: My brother is a big Blazers fan Sim and he still cant get over Roys winning shot against the Rockets. Roy has been struggling so far this season so hopefully that gives him a boost.

Yep, that's what I meant - Rose as a rookie reminds me a bit of Billups now. That's why it's so scary.

Btw, the Atlanta bench is poo. Flip Murray has a hot streak every season, it won't last. Mo Evans is decent, but he thinks he's a lot better than he is, and will make dumb decisions. Zaza is over-achieving right now, and Law will never be more than ok.

As long as their starting 5 stay healthy though, it looks like they'll be ok.

Well Dumars is usually pretty shrewd with trades but who knows. So many big names coming out of contract. Sheed will also come off the books within a year or so. That's a lot of cap space.

Yeah it's great that Roy can be clutch when he is generally having a stinker of a game. I feel bad for the Rockets though in that if not for the clocking error that allowed him to get the shot off but still they allowed a crappy rebounding team to beat them 48-36 at the boards so not too much sympathy.
