I voted bradbert mainly due to workrate/intensity. This is something the whole squad needs massive improvement in. Brad "walks the walk".

JT needs to perform a little better I feel, his early indiscretions at the club are a small black mark as well IMO. Still seems like too much of a lad.

This ones easy. Imagine going to tell Trengove that he didn't get the captaincy.. screw that job, he'd go ape shit because everything he does exudes leader. He'd tell you to shove the decision he's making himself captain and if any of the boys disagree then they can come and visit the new captain and he'll beat his leadership into them.

People will fall in line behind him.

Boak can barely handle being our #1 mid let alone Capt.

unfortunately i would've liked it to come his way another year later. i wonder how much pressure it will put on him being so young?? we wont know until its done i guess.

anyway, ill put it this way,

jackson and bradbert for capt and vcapt, either way you want to swing it. i think someone who hasnt been mentioned who should be is paul stewert ( for a vc after those 2 of course). depends on how he is around the boys i guess but i like the way he carries himself on the field. while he isnt a perfect player he is one that ive been relatively happy with his performance this year. one on one he always beats his opponent.

If I had to nominate a dark horse I'd go with Chaplin. He's frustrated the hell out of me in the past, but I've have been impressed with his turnaround in form this year (I feel that Brad Gotch has had a positive influence). I need more convincing though. I fear that the 'bad' Chaplin could still be lurking inside.

I am not convinced that Boak will offer us anything different to Cassisi. He's right down my list at the minute.

Same. Took me about 2 seconds to banish the thought from my mind... and about another 10 seconds to decide on Trengove.

The only question mark on Trengove was I would prefer an on-baller, but who knows, he may be used more in ruck in future.

I'm going with Boak, would be performing better if he had support. Like other players bumping and shepherding for him. Hasn't been able to get his outside game going much at all this year.

You know what i mean, someone with a bit of c*** about them to fire the rest of the boys up.

I voted Schulz for now as Dom needs to be replaced, and while I think Trengove is the strongest leader, he still needs a couple of years to mature as a person/player. I think Schulz leads by example week in, week out and gives it 100% each time.

Brad also leads by example but at the moment doesn't get enough of the ball and is prone to fade outs.

But definitely in 1 to 2 years Trengove is the clear choice. We need a player that can lead by example, has a strong on the ground presence, will demand more from his players and is capable of doing the inspirational. Treggers is all those things but just still a bit immature. But I think Dom can no longer lead the team. He gives is all, but that is no longer enough and the game has clearly passed him by. So I pick Schulz as an interim Captain until Treggers is ready. I would have said Boak last year, but he really hasn't stepped up this year which has been disapointing.

Thinking about our strongest period. Primus and Tredrea were both guys who would try and grab the game and lift if needed. You knew they would work hard to grab possession. Thinking Tredders where he got us over the line against Richmond and everyone remembers Primus grabbing the ball from the ruck and driving it forward. It pretty much sealed the deal that he would be captain.

There is no one at the moment I can think of that would give us that. Boak clearly is not up to it. Treggers has as many brainfarts and Chaplin.

Schulz is the only one who gives consistent effort that i would be confident he would present at every opportunity and give 100% So I voted for him even though he would never get the gig.

Sad reflection on our team that there is no one who looks like he could inspire or at least appear to give his all in every situation.

I'd almost leave it with Cassisi for the time being. No need to give the captaincy to someone who doesn't deserve it.

But i want to see Surjan captain for a year

Was close to it before preseason 2010, since then came back unfit and ruined his 2011, has come back determined and if he can continue his 2009 form that he has shown this year and carry into next year. I think he would be a great captain for a year. Handles himself well in the media, has players respect, junkyard dog type player, shows leadership on field.

At the moment i just feel that Trengove, Hartlett and Ebert are all too young to get the job. Look at the Melbourne saga, there captains are good leaders but i don't think they have the experience to carry the team when it gets tough and would like to see the POrt lads at least 23/24 with 100 or so games under there belt when they get captaincy.

Don't give it to Boak. Shows little leadership in the middle and needs to focus on his own game taking the next level.
