NFNL Div 1 discussion 2022

My point is they could've had alot more if they didn't walk from the club. Two of the players from last year have walked even though they were regulars. Maybe the committee could've asked why you were leaving before rubber stamping the clearance. The senior club has always had a tilt at winning a flag, but go out and buy players after BORO winning the flag with 18 homegrown kids. Monty said that's the 5 year plan. They lost a home grown kid in Luke Collins to Bundoora because the club(COMMITTEE)didn't want to sit down and speak to him regarding a contract THAT BACKFIRED! And they started the rumour, he was asking huge coin to deflict the stuff up! Collins has gone on to become captain of the Bulls. They recently had a kid who won the 19s B&F and he didn't even get spoken to from the club regarding a senior contract, to make it even worse the senior coach didn't communicate with him wouldnt even know his name. Winning a club B&F you would think the club would want to keep him around. Makes me scratch my head in amazement.
Good Luck in 2022 Mont will be interesting to see if any HOMEGROWN clearout at seasons end.
I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the specific situations you’ve set as an example but the task of holding players in D1 with a 100k salary cap while you have clubs all over offering huge coin to leave is tough.
Montmorency played plenty of local kids last year just look at their points.

I know kids who have played mostly reserves and a handful of senior games being offered massive coin in lower divisions to leave. Look at Boro lost a whole bunch to Panton Hill (while in D3) at one stage.

With the rampant cases going around in Melbourne and not stopping. I wonder what the NFNL are planning as a contingency plan if a person tests positive and the whole squad has to get PCR results before the weekend?
Agree it’s very concerning. I assume most clubs will be returning to training in the next couple of weeks, how will the current situation impact training and the season? Will teams be wiped out due to positive cases and will games be postponed?

This will be all over by round 1. Literally everyone will have caught it by then the way it’s spreading especially in football aged people.

Don’t think so, you can get covid more than once. While there is a requirement to isolate for 7 days, can’t see how a season will function. NT going back into lockdown, if vic doesn’t go into lockdown the restrictions will be bad enough to halt community sport.

Ah well, no one really knows what’s around the corner.

We don’t start for 4 months or so. Many epidemiologist predict it could be over by then. Let’s hope.

10 weeks until our first practice game, 12 weeks to Round 1, think your 4 months or so is a little out.
If anything like DVCA they have told us we are playing no matter what and unless you can't field teams due to covid, doesn't matter about quality of teams you put out there.

That's the thoughts of some of the epidemiologists out there as well. Saying that the virus will have basically run out of 20-29 year olds to infect and start slowing down. Apparently that's the SA experience.

Bit quiet, so thought I'd follow up on some older rumors.

I saw an article saying JT is looking to head over to the US, so assume that means no link to Greensy for 2022?
Any update on Houli to West, will he play between commitments? West signed anyone?
Hooker still looking at Heidelberg, or Bundy, or wherever he was rumored?
