Cop that Bucky...

I think Hamish knows what a lot of us have suspected for a couple of years now especially with some of Bucky's "plays like" references.

Adelaide National Recruiting Manager Hamish Ogilvie has defended his club’s decision not to select Luke Edwards under father-son rules.

Luke, the son of Crows great Tyson Edwards, played in the SANFL for Glenelg in 2020 as a midfielder who has also spent time in defence.

Veteran talent evaluator Gary Buckenara released his top 50 draft prospects recently for the Herald Sun, with Luke Edwards coming in 29th.

Ogilvie said they would evaluate the father-son prospect when they get to his draft range.

“That’s Gary and that’s his opinion, I don’t know how much footy he’s watched this year, maybe he’s watched a lot,” Ogilvie told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“We’ve spoken to Luke and his family and they know where things stand.

“He’ll be in our talent order and we’ll weigh him up like all the other players in the draft.”

pretty bizarre what you’ve taken from that

Isaiah Dudley and Blayne O'Loghlin are probably the better prospects.

Edit: Zyton Santillo is another, but I think a fair way back.

Considering how his brothers faired I'd say it's less than likely

He'll certainly have a clearer shot of getting here then his brother (though I wouldn't be too surprised if we end up regretting choosing Borlase over Edwards). We have a weaker draft hand this year and he'll get a chance to have a U/18 year to justify why he should be on a list.

Remember that we won't have priority access to NGA talents selected in the first round
We might get lucky there. This will be a strong draft, which will push picks down further than in other years. None of our guys are in the 21 players picked in the AFL Academy squad for 2021. Dudley, likely the best of of the five, is only 164cm and coming off injury so might slide a bit more than NGAs already do. We might end up with no bids in the first round.

Jacob Lochowiak may be the final one, but the Lochowiak boys have fared worse than the Edwards'. He at least played in the SA U17 futures game last year.
I don't think Jacob is eligible is he? Same reason Milera, Rankine etc wasn't eligible for Port or us. Not based in our country zones?

I recall Mihail Lochowiak,. Jacob's eldest brother (and a ripping lad I might add) was eligible for us a few years back but we passed over him. As such, would his brother not be subject to the same eligibility criteria?

Not sure, but not sure who the 5th one is otherwise. His (I assume) brothers were eligible, which is why I thought he might be the mystery 5th player.

Was Mihail elifible in the end though? Did the club ever confirm he was eligible to be drafted by us?

A good starting point would be the North Adelaide lads in our NGA squad as a good percentage are from our Northern zone Port Augusta the same as Tariek Newchurch. What year they're eligible is the kicker. The Lochowiak's are in Sturt's zone and to my knowledge while they're participating in our NGA development squad as such I don't think they're eligible draft wise as NGA's as they're city based.. I may be wrong on that but currently that's my understanding.

Brandon Jackson-Martin (Central Augusta)
Isaac Keeler (South Augusta)
Kane McAuliffe (Central Augusta)
Callan McKenzie (West Augusta)
Jay McLachlan (Central Augusta)
Angus Turner ?

just need to double check that as they (Lochowiak brothers) were originally in the Norwood zone but not sure if that has any bearing on things
