So Chappy is more serious that first thought, or we are really erring on the side of caution.
And Milburn is obviously injured...

Tis rather frustrating I agree. Why does your club give supporters false hope with players returning from injury.
First Ablett, now Chapman.
Didn't Bomber say on the weekend that Chapman "will be back next week"

It's conundrum, isn't it?Yet again the selectors have got me scratching my head. Why would they retain Byrnes ahead of Varcoe![]()
I guess it's hard to change a team that won so easily. Surprised Chappy didn't come up though as I heard him in an interview say he was very close last week.

Well from the reports I heard Varcoe was awesome in the magoos last week. So it would only make sense that they would bring him in for Byrnes. Wouldn't it?? Byrnes had a shocker. Varcoe has pace and is an excellent tackler. He's also got polish which Byrnes clearly doesn't! Why the f*ck would you keep Byrnes over Varcoe?![]()
Less crazy than it sounds. If the two's don't make the finals, we aren't able to get match practice into our fringe players during the AFL finals period.maybe they're keepin varcoe in the vfl team and shanka burns out so they have a chance of makin the finals![]()

Travis Varcoe lit up the sky on an otherwise bleak and windy afternoon with some mesmerising sidestepping and awesome finishing.
The match hung in the balance until midway through the final quarter until the Varcoe-inspired Cats surged over the line.
Varcoe played a prominent role in the Cats first two goals, including a scintillating run down the wing where he dodged would-be tacklers like a slalom rider.
"We wanted him to get a little bit more of the ball than what he's been getting in the AFL, he's come out today and got 25 possessions, which is great," Tudor said.
"When the game was in the balance, he just kept bobbing up for us and his defensive pressure again was outstanding, but for him to get a lot of the ball was exactly what we wanted to see, so it was a good result for Travis."

Byrnes is still in because, like many other fringe players, the club is getting 2 or 3 games into them. Why? Because we have the liberty to do so. We're definitly going to finish top 2, most likely top and there is nothing to lose from keeping Byrnes for an extra week. It's like the whole Stephen King event last year: we gave him a few games in the last few weeks to get him some gametime and AFL match fitness so that we could always have him as an option. And as we all remember, it was a option we used to great affect.
I was extremely disappointed with Byrnes' performance against Melbourne, I thought he had reached a new level this year. But he is back to his typical form and barring an extradoinare performance against Sydney, I expect Varcoe to be back in the team before the finals just like Blake.

One of the selectors is playing against me in Super Coach this week i reckon.
No big deal with Chapman not ready yet. But why the #### is Milburn not straight back in? Is this some sort of mistake? What was the point in challenging his suspension if he is to miss TWO anyway? Sheer bloody stupidity somewhere.

GEELONG defender Darren Milburn is likely to miss only this week's clash with a groin injury, according to club football manager Neil Balme.
Milburn was somewhat of a surprise non-inclusion when the Cats named their 22 to take on the Swans at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
But Balme said the wily backman had been suffering from general groin soreness rather than incurring a specific injury either at training or during his last match - when he was suspended for one game in his side's win over Richmond in round 18.
"He's a touch sore … he's not too bad but he's just a little bit sore in the groin," Balme said.
"It's just been something that he's had. It's been a little bit sore and it hasn't quite recovered."
Asked if the injury could pose a longer-term risk, Balme replied that he would be fine.
"We thought he'd play this week but he's not quite right so I would expect him to play next week."
Despite beating Melbourne by 116 points last week, the Cats faced the prospect of being forced to make at least two changes this week with Milburn and Paul Chapman (hamstring) both considered strong chances to return to the side earlier this week.
However the Cats will go into the clash unchanged with Chapman also ruled out after struggling to overcome a hamstring complaint suffered against Hawthorn in Geelong's round 17 win.
"He's just not quite right," Balme said.
The skilful forward is not believed to have suffered a major setback and will be considered for Geelong's round 21 meeting with North Melbourne.
Despite not being able to consider two of their stars, Balme said it was "not the end of the world" for the ladder leaders.
