Does anyone know the current %?

It would be interesting to see how much the inclusion of Gold Coast and GWS has changed the percentages.

How do you count Tom Hawkins? Born in New South Wales but played his school football in Victoria and his junior football for Sandringham , which is in Victoria I think.

One of the older posts said around -
50% Vic
20% SA
20% WA
10% Other.

That would be fairly close I think. Maybe Vic would be a bit less?

Would be interested in the Irish percentage now. Off the top of my head: Cribbin, Mooney, Clarke, Hanley, McKeever, Tuohy, O'Hailpin, O'Hanlon, Walsh. Is Quinn still around? I'm sure I've missed some.

Using SOO rules (home residence for majority of time between aged 12-17), NSW have exactly 50 AFL listed players in 2012 (compared to 30 in 2009, 39 in 210 and 45 in 2011).

I haven't yet counted up for Qld, Tas or NT for 2012 but in 2011 there were 52 for Qld, 31 for Tasmania and 24 for NT. The numbers outside Vic, SA and WA are thus over 150!

I'll count the 2012 numbers and supply the names when I have a bit more spare time.

you mean the greatest full forward of all time not named Tony Lockett then.

I think he meant the greatest FF of all time to play for Hawthorn not named Hudson.

Let's not start this again

100 goals less then Lockett despite playing less seasons and dishing off half his possessions for assists

Dunstall played in a much better side than Plugger with better delivery for the majority of his career.

Piggy had platten and buckenarra putting it on his chest while poor old plugger had Jason Daniels trying to put it on his chest.

The other side of the argument is plugger got almost every inside 50 aimed at him whereas Hawks had multiple targets.

Gosh darn - and I came here thinking (wronglt it seems) this thread was about the % of current AFL players from each state.

Yeah sort of got hijacked by % of lust towards Lockett/Dunstall!

This is Crows 2012 and just a quick count off the website
Doesn't add up to 41 players so I've missed someone but gives an idea of the trend towards Vics since 06

18 SA
18 Vic
1 WA
3 nsw
1 Qld

An interesting thing that may happen is if Glass retires before Pavlich and Cassisi (which is probable).

Both South Australian teams would have a Western Australian captain and both Western Australian teams would have a South Australain captain.

Lockett would have kicked an extra 300 goals if he had have played a couple of seasons with a certain D Jarman. Not to mention playing in a few of those Hawks teams in the late 80s/early 90s

case reopened. and thread perhaps derailed.

It may be a fatal assumption that Waters is a shoo-in for the role.

I've seen the demand for players expressed by State before - where the players come from compared with where they go to.

Irrelevant cry those who take more than they provide.

I always argue go on the birth certificate, same rule should apply if state of origin ever came back in.
