What we need more than anything else is a complete overhaul of the gameplan. The Malthouse/ Buckley boundary line play has been solved. Good news is that, bar few relative minor positional deficiencies the list is still up there with the best.

Btw if Cloke goes get Tippet, or get Tippet anyway :D

Go through the centre like Adelaide are right now!
God they look good going straight down the middle. Carving Hawthorn up. Granted it is more risky, but shit if we still have Trav he'd love it!

Buckley will deliver. If we give him as many years as we did mick, he will be much more successful
Buckley inherited a premiership list while Malthouse had to rebuild after 2003. Buckley should be expected to deliver a premiership in 2013, depending perhaps on our ruck situation.

Out
Buckley Rounds Ugle Young Tarrant Didak Wellingham

In
A quaility ruckman like Giles or failing that, a backup, Martin or Pederson. Also some leg speed. Might be ok with rookie listing Ugle.

People are quick to judge players on this site. Didak is contracted for next season and will be at Collingwood next year. He has a number of injuries this season but should have a better run at it next season.

On what I saw last night I think Johnson should give it away as he is not as sharp as he once was.
Players like Wood and Rounds have had their papers stamped.

The rest of the players mentioned might get another year, which would give us 4 picks in the National draft provided we don't trade any other player/s on the list.

We need to find players that can kick the football because most of players were poor at that last night.

My mail is that Travis Cloke will be at Collingwood next season.

Yeah it was in the heat of moment i said that, but i want results next year if we have a fair injury run, GF birth minimum.

i laughed so hard yesterday when u said lets not not eat our own, ur the king of eating pies on this forum... start terrible threads and take every oppotunity to take a bite out of club legends in buckley and eddy. You are just a hypocrit

Caddy is a long shot and until we get a bit more info i don't think he can factor in to our discussion plans yet. Whately apparently said on the radio that he preferred us, except nobody actually heard it, and the Damien Barret rumour was actually a fabrication by someone, Barret never said anything of the sort. We're in a group of clubs after him, except we have no money.

caddys a 2nd year player who has been injury plauged.. he wont be commanding big money

If Caddy wants to come home and had a preference for Collingwood then it may not take allot of money to get him to us. But if we have to convince him that he should come to Collingwood then we had better get the cheque book out.

He'll have his choice of all the Melbourne clubs, some will offer him more than others, he wont come at a bargain price unless he values a flag over money, and i'd very much doubt that, so any team who gets him will be paying overs.

No way will he command big money, he is a no one yet. I doubt he has played 20 games of AFL football.

This is true but there seems to be quite a few clubs circling and I reckon a few will try and get the jump on the others by offering up a more juicy contract. Whether it puts us out of the race I dunno, but we don't seem to have much room to move. I think the best chance is he absolutely does nominate us Luke Ball style and we can just work out a half decent trade. But he's been at North Melbourne so that doesn't look likely.

Gameplan does need to be altered. Less going around the boundary line. We need to become unpredictable with the ball in our hands. More spread from stoppages and kick in strategy needs to change.

Not making a GF isn't good enough after the season we had in 2011. Malthouse would have out coached Longmire i have no doubt about that. Defensively we have lost the plot. Collingwood should never have sacked Malthouse.

We have not gone backwards. We will finish in the top 4 next year and give it another shake. Two grand finals and a prelim is good going. Had we made the granny this year and got flogged, it would have been damaging for us next year.

Good god. We have gone backwards everywhere this year.

You want to give Buckley 10 years after inheriting the best list in the AFL? Hate to break it to you but in 10 years almost all of the current best 22 wont be around. What do you think this is? A free ticket for Buckley to reign for 10 years no matter the results? The only excuse Bucks has is injuries but that doesnt explain the ordinary football we have played ALL year.

We have gone backwards everywhere this year. To think otherwise is bewildering.

So many people quick to jump on board on the let's get rid of Buckley bandwagon as It's hardly been his fault that this season turned out to be one game short from last season and it's pretty pathetic if you ask me. Personally I'm glad I don't have to sit through another loosing Grand Final and lets look at Hawthorn who won in 2008 and haven't had a good look in at another Grand Final til this year. (four years later) Buttt back to the main topic, our list changes.

Ultimately let's face facts here, we lost key structure players coming into this season with Leon Davis and Leigh Brown. Keefe going down was a huge hit to our depth, it basically forced us to keep Dawes in the team unfit, out of form and out of position. I think if we pick up either Cam Pederson/Stefan Martin it would only be a stock filler in case Keefe/Dawes go down again as Wood is unfortunately not good enough to replace Jolly yet and cannot play any other position. I think with Cegs and Witts still developing this move would be most ideal. I think Wood isn't a bad ruckman, he isn't the worst he just doesn't get enough game time considering Jolly is one of the best ruck-men in the competition and it's hard for Wood to get a full game over him and its stupid to go two rucks who can't play a key position.

Get rid of Wellingham? are you all nuts? He's one of our most important rotation players. Wellingham is still young and this season has provided us with some solid performances, not to mention he's been one of our best players in the finals campaign. Sure he doesn't round up 30+ touches like Sidebottom or Beams, but he is one of our most safest ball users and you can count on him nearly all the time in front of goal. Ball going down early and Didaks injury hurt our structures and personally I think he's one of our most improved.

Didak is fragile and hasn't had a steady season, but I think he deserves a full chance at fighting for his spot for one more year it's not like it would hurt us? Say he has a uninterrupted pre-season and is in full fitness come round 1 it would be an absolute blessing for us provided the spark he gives us. Same with Johno, Mcaffer and Kraks they all deserve a full season chance next year.

We don't need drastic changes unless we loose Travis Cloke, but it doesn't hurt to add some depth. We won't get Tippet, Goddard, Caddy, Giles etc because we can't fit them in our cap.

So In: Cam Pederson/Stefan Martin
Out: No-one other than who retires (and few rookies who have already been delisted.)

I'd like to see bucks moved on, i know he was a great player-great media person and very well spoken, but that doesn't mean he's a great coach, we've slipped so far since he took over during a period where we should be getting better, i have no idea what the game plan is, i don't think the players do either, everything is rushed and has been all season, our 2011 worst was better than our 2012 best (round 22 the exception), as i've said before, 2012 was not a year to change coaches, ******* ridiculous, thanks Edd.

So 2013 will be a better year to change coaches then?
Might just want to give Bucks a little bit of time to implent things the way he wants them, rather than one summer, before you drop off your perch.

It won't happen but Butters is the one for me under the pump. There is no evidence to say;
- we run out quarters stronger
- we run out games stronger
- we have a low injury rate

And when you consider this year we hit the season unfit, had the good patch of energy from about round 4 to round 14 then fatigued out from there (2 years running virtually) I don't think he has brought a successful fitness program to the club since the 3+1 change to the interchange

The reality is that the edges we had that the previous two years are gone and its not Buckley's fault. MM would have battled this year as well. Every year the top teams gets studied intensly with clubs looking to copy and negate the strengths and edges that made you top 4. Our primary edges were intensity that came from greater fitness (altitude and rotation) and the press. We've lost our fitness edge due to other teams doing Altitude training (injuries don't help either) and the secret to beating the press has been cracked.

The Dawks went through the same thing after their 08 premiership and had to adapt and change to get back up. One of the smartest things they did was figure out where the game was headed and focused on recruiting elite kickers. They used that to change the way they played.

So now its on us to adapt and change, which means we need to figure out where we're being broken down, how we can counter the two Grand Finalists and identify key strategic needs. Thankfully free agency has started so we should get an opportunity to fill some of these holes quicker than by just relying on the draft.

Given all the injuries we had the club has done well to get to the PF.

Yes and that is the other very important part of change.
With no limit on how much we can spend on our football department some more good quality Assistant Coaches is a very good strategy.
I wish Scott Burns was available.

Is he contracted? Burns would be a great start. I would also love to see Alan Richardson back at the club as a line coach. I think we were thrown out a bit planning for our assistants when Neeld and Watters got senior gigs and left when Sanderson got a senior gig and we couldn't bring him and when Burns decided to leave the nest (smart move). But thats just at a guess.

Not making a GF isn't good enough after the season we had in 2011. Malthouse would have out coached Longmire i have no doubt about that. Defensively we have lost the plot. Collingwood should never have sacked Malthouse.

Malthouse wouldn't even had made the finals with our injury list just like 04.
