And this is what they don't get. A full team of possible selections for the draft vs 1 Northern academy player every 2nd year or so.

Does my head in. Academy has produced some great players over the years BUT there are a shit load of average players who pass thru over the years to come up with the few good enough to make it. End of the day, nobody is watching the NSW kids anyway. Recruiters have their hands full keeping track of Vic, SA and WA kids. Some of the boys certainly have AFL traits (as Sheedy mentioned with Cleary and Nicholls) but who’s watching and how many opportunities are they getting to show it?

And then they complain we have been "hiding" players.
Like Gulden, who played premier Div for UNSW before being drafted.
Or Wicks who played for Manly but we "hid" him away so we could take him as a rookie, after every club passed on him at least seven times.
