Pucovski update:

Will Pucovski faces an anxious wait to see if he can recover from a shoulder injury in time for the fourth and final Vodafone Test against India, with Australia giving him every opportunity to prove his fitness.

Australia confirmed Pucovski suffered a "shoulder subluxation" injury while diving in the field on the fifth day of the third Test in Sydney.

Doubtful he will play.

Does Wade open and Head back in?
Harris straight swap for Pucovski?

Very unsettling series.

I'd rate Head above Harris as a both a batsmen now and a future prospect, even if they play different roles.

But a Warner and Wade opening combination has too many potential downsides exposing our middle order.

For mine it should be Harris coming in if Pucosvki isn't fit.

In terms of changes should Pucovski be ruled out. I think it depends how close to the edge Wade is.

If they are thinking of putting a line through him after this series then I'd probably have him open and play Head. Alternatively if they think Wade is their number five for the Ashes then he needs to stay there and I guess Harris plays.

Huh? I clearly stated he won't be.

I don't think he should be. He's still the best gloveman in the country and he's batting is more than adequate for a keeper.
Paine may have been the best keeper once upon a time. That’s why they rushed him in when sandpaper happened. He was barely making the shield side but Chappelli saw him as the best glove man and Wade wasn’t making runs. Then Carey came along and had an amazing shield season as keeper taking the most dismissals in the shield. He to then got rushed into the one day squad and 20/20 squad. Paine was removed as our 20/20 and one day keeper. Now Carey had a shocking World Cup with the gloves but has improved out of site and his batting is a class above and his keeping is coming along nicely. It’s the Gilchrist v Healey situation. Is paines so call great keeping that much better now than Carey’s to stay in the side when Carey’s batting is a class above paines

Gilchrist had a much more compelling case than Carey.

i've been wanting a line through wade for a while now, even though he has been serviceable.
we are almost backed into a corner to play him for this final test though with the pucovski injury.
we have a few 30+ and it makes sense to stagger retirements. the thing is the other 30+ will decide their own retirements.
it's time the selectors decided wade's. his replacement won't put on a worse output surely.

we still have a south africa series first and possibly the test championship final and the afghanistan test that has been promised next summer, and a 20/20 world cup , before the ashes.

Holy smokes batman.
No Bumrah is huge.
That kid is absolutely elite.
Bring in Finch and Harris again and they can redeem themselves!!

So likely Bumrah, Vihari and Jadeja out.
No reason why we shouldn’t be rotating our seamers for this game. Neser and Abbot? For Starc and Cummins/Hazlewood.
Harris in for Pucovski

And potentially Ashwin

You’d be pissed off if you’re Marcus Harris and Puck misses and they still don’t pick you. Two months completely wasted just sitting around with no cricket. He can’t even go back to the BBL as it will be over before they clear quarantine

They wouldn’t do it to Khawaja...

Starc can get rested for me for Patto/Neser/Swepson

India will be glad to get home I reckon. They'd be just about cooked, even after that final effort in Sydney.
They will either fight like dogs or lay down like dogs

Rest? What?
Series win up for grabs and our job just got marginally easier.

Victorian Victimisation Syndrome rears again.

Softened them up for England who will still capitulate to a 4-0 loss

Whatever, simple fact is if you're not going to pick him over an opening batsman averaging 1 or would rather promote a batsman who's never opened in first class cricket before, then why bother dragging him around for 2 months?
