I seriously would like to know how people cope in Summer with no football? Or how do you survive Monday-Thursday of every week in footy season?

Complaining of nothing to do on one day of the year? Anyway its your choice to do nothing and complain about a boring telethon. Get out of the house, do something or as someone else said, watch one of the other 100's of television stations not showing the telethon

Just because I argue the principle of something does not mean I am at a loss as to what to do. Religious festivals are fun times in other countries and cultures. In the Phillipines, you could go and watch people being crucified for real, the same people volunteering year after year. Our religious holiday is such a solemn day.

So people can actually get on with their lives not having footy on 1 night? Amazing, so why do people care? It is what it is, I dont get why people get so worked up whingeing about it every single year, then when the good friday whingeing stops its time for the annual ANZAC day whinge...

As long as AD is running the AFL and now 7 have the rights again, it wont be changing

But a solemn day? That's the point of good Friday.

I believe in the death but not the resurrection. I am not a believer, and atheists and agnostics are probably in the majority in this country. Why should my day be restricted by a belief to which I do not subscribe?

It shouldn't be.

Is it? Is footy not being on the only thing that inconveniences you?

If we look at it this way:
1. The first round of the season we had 1 game for the weekend. That is a bigger inconvenience for an even lesser reason!

2. We don't have a weekly Thursday night game. But we did this week to account for Friday.

So technically we are just trading a Friday game for a Thursday game. And no religious entity is forcing that to be so. It's the AFL that is conveniencing you, not religion in general.

I support your view.

However, maybe we should leave it at that and move our focus back to footy. Otherwise we just open a can of worms - and we want the pies board to be harmonious!! =D

Maybe, but my point is that I reckon atheists, agnostics et al probably don't even see any irony in them observing a Christian holiday like Good Friday or Christmas Day.....or using phrases such as "thank God I don't care about either!"
