might be the greatest season ever by a player. but i personally think his skills aren't quite polished enough to ever be the goat.

Can run fast and gets plenty of the ball, too bad he butchers it most of the time... especially when kicking for goal!

His season has been overrated thanks to the media building him up pre season

He could have 2 touches resulting in turn overs, and do nothing else, and chances are he'd still be rated this highly

It's a lot like judd when he got to Carlton

Give it a few seasons and reevaluate, once the Nicole Kidman Effect has warn off

Danger is a great player and has more to give but since I have been watching football let me reel off some names

MATTHEWS
HARVEY
CAREY
ABLETT
ABLETT JNR
JUDD
VOSS
HAWKINS
BUDDY
LOCKETT

GOAT a stretch at this stage

The only conversation putting Doug Hawkins and goat together does not involve an acronym.

Prior to 2016, he'd played seven full seasons for 3 AA's, 1 B&F, 0 Brownlows, 0 MVP awards and 0 premierships.

One excellent season at the age of 26 does not make him the greatest player of all time. Carn.

there is always a downside to some things but well a fantastic nomenclature as well as a terrific playing ability
as well as a beautiful way of speaking and not to mention the playing ability...
shit what am I saying about a cat... shove off bonehead... :thumbsu:

His season has been good, no doubt, but he's not had a Nat Fyfe or GAJ to compete with. Vic press go gaga and carry on like he's a first year player, but he's actually played good footy for a few years now. Best player of all time? Long, long way to go before that claim can be made. Certainly a quality player, but still has too many brain fades and sprayed kicks for mine. Get that right, and who knows?

I don't think dangerfield has the will power of the very very elite footballers.

In talking the types of players who can play on one leg and still show no signs of pain to their opponents.

Dangerfield all too often over acts when he cops a hit, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but shows his mind is not always 110% focused on getting the win. It shows he is at times focused on himself, and this is why I think he has a slight tendency to not bring it at times, despite being 100% fit.

Players like Hird, Judd, Voss etc would have to have life threatening injuries before showing their opponents weakness. This mental toughness is what elevates them above the rest.

Wait until the Brownlow count.

Aside from the 2 games he would have played against Ablett or Fyfe where they can take votes off each other, the voting process means the presence or lack of, of any injured players, has no relation to the high amount of votes Dangefield might get. So if he breaks 30-35 votes comfortably which he probably should, I think it would put to bed any arguments over how good his season has been

The media and Geelong supporters talk him up like he's is the second coming of Christ. Some Crows supporters treat him like the Antichrist.

Dangerfield himself seems to think he's pretty good. Was always like that, even at Adelaide. I never had quite as much respect for him as I did more team-oriented players like Sloane and Walker.

That makes no sense at all. I said he's had a good season, but he hasn't had an Ablett or Fyfe to compete against. Contrary to your train of thinking both of those players, if fit, would have played games against other teams too, not just against Geelong. If they'd each played 22 rounds and been top performer in each game for their respective clubs, they could have ALL ended up on 30-35 votes.
