I guess he has the potential but he'd want to start kicking laser-liks passes every single time. There are elements of his game whcih make him a freak, but then he also has some aspects he needs to work on.

He's clearly the best player in the comp right now, but I'd say Fyfe last year was just as good. Ablett's best was still better, and he was consistent for seven years. I'd love to say he will end up the GOAT, but I doubt it very much.

No, I have never seen that ad before. Ever. Never ever. I also have never seen him give a pre-match, half-time or post-match interview. Ever. Never ever.

I just want to know how long it will be before he starts referring to himself in the 3rd person, Robert Allenby style.

I cannot believe the number of people buying this troll.

I wanted to say it was a shit OP but given the number of people swallowing it, it was clearly a stroke of genius.

Either that or your average BF poster is completely braindead.

How did it anyone miss it?

Surely the main giveaway was "The last 4 are a formality"
which includes the Premiership and a Norm Smith.
It wasn't even subtle.

Be better Bigfooty.

Anyone who has had a decade of Sooz under their belt or the last couple of years of Roby would have picked this shortly after opening the thread.

Feel the youth of BF have missed a great schooling on the art in the absence of the Queen.

27 at the end of the year and this is really the first season where you can say he's clearly been the best player. I suppose he could come into consideration with another 6-7 years at this level but you'd have to say that's pretty damn unlikely. I still think GAJ is the only current player who could have given the GOAT a serious shake but injuries, and playing for a generally poor team in GC, put the clamps on that. Maybe Buddy if he cracks 1000 goals.

It's the latter.

He's playing no better than he has for the last few years at Adelaide. We've improved ladder position this year without a replacement for him.

He can't be that good.

Take the best player out of any other team and see if they can maintain the same level.

Not even the best player in the competition. That goes to Fyfe, IMO. Danger is a gun, but no more so than Hird was, for instance.

Patiently waits from Crows posters to arrive :D

The bloke simply can't kick.
Yes he can... just not very often. His decision making can be very poor. I swear he goes 100 miles an hour, gets the ball and then think "shit, WTF am I going to do now?". There has been games when his disposal has been brilliant. When he's not under pressure he is great.

Unlike most Hawks players whose games are built around creating space and not having to dispose under pressure, Danger is quite often under pressure when disposing of the ball. It's why I rate Sam Mitchell and Pendlebury as they use the ball so well in traffic and under immense pressure.

Also think he has a tendency to try the impossible, low % play a little too often. The ones that are guaranteed to make the highlights reel if they come off but will more likely make you look like a turnip. Fyfe used to be the same but his DE climbed dramatically once he began picking the more sensible options. FWIW I don't think Danger is as bad a kick as many make out, certainly not bad enough to prevent him being a dominant force and not demonstrably worse than most other inside mids. With the extreme pressure of modern footy and most teams able to implement a basic zone defence high clanger counts among prolific ball winners is a given. I think we fixate a little too much on the weaknesses of star players and overstate them until common perception is altered, sometimes it's warranted but mostly it isn't imo.

Danger is a great player and has more to give but since I have been watching football let me reel off some names

MATTHEWS
HARVEY
CAREY
ABLETT
ABLETT JNR
JUDD
VOSS
HAWKINS
BUDDY
LOCKETT
CYRIL

GOAT a stretch at this stage

Ye I'd have Cyril there too, great post

People have already forgotten how good GAJ was at his best? Danger has had one great season, GAJ had like five in a row. GAJ was getting 40 touches a week and kicking 3-4 goals a game in a side losing by 60+. And then there's Ablett Senior, or The King himself.

So much hype for such little substance.
