That just isnt true. Watch any game from the 90s and you will see a number of players on both teams kicking with both feet and doing it well.

It isnt practiced anymore. But when I was a kid we certainly did a lot of it at training.
I'm afraid we'll have to disagree to disagree on that one.

I'd have to ask a StKilda supporter, but my understanding is that 1991 was Peak Lockett.

That said, Ablett's 1993 wasn't just special because of the numbers, it was special because the rest of the side was - unlike the other seasons mentioned - playing badly. I can't say whether it was better than the others because I was too young to watch other teams much at the time, but he managed bags of 10, 11 and 14 in losing sides that year.

Hawks were complete crap after 1991 and it was only Dunstall dragging us every game towards a chance to win.

Lockett's entire Saints career was the same. They were complete shit apart from him. What he did was literally insane.

Really? You dont even have to look more than a year away.
Dunstall 1992
Lockett 1992

Or if you want to go back a bit further.
Matthews 1977
Hudson 1970
Lol Dunstalls 1992 isnt even in the same stratosphere. He just beat up ordinary sides in thumpings. And his stats arent as good anyway.

Lockett 1991 (not 1992) is the other season up with abletts for goat.

Sorry dont know much about the 70s. Im not that old. I just refer to modern times.

Carey in 1996.

BTW in 1992 Dunstall kicked 21 goals in 2 games against Geelong. Is that what you mean by ordinary sides? A team that played in the grand final? He also kicked 12 goals in 2 games against West Coast. The grand final winner.

The most goals dunstall kicked in a loss was 7. Nothing like abletts 1993.

His goal average was also nearly 1 goal less per game then ablett.

He kicked 31 goals in 4 games against the 2 grand finalists.

Maybe him kicking a lot of goals in games we won is why we won.

So franklin, ablett, danger and who is the 4th?

Ps you get there have been lots of danger threads over the years. You also get daicos plays for collingwood and danger doesnt right?
Tossing up between Danger and Judd for 3rd and 4th.

Reckon an influential Grand Final this year elevates him ahead of Judd.

1 or 2 for Dangerfield in his first 3 finals series.

3 or 4 for Ablett in his first 3 finals series.

0 or 0 for some other players in their first 3 finals series.
Disingenuous one at it again.

The question was 'in their first 4 years'.

But understandable, given Daicos has set the bar THAT HIGH...

He hasn't actually displayed this kind of nervousness in years. It's interesting. Could Dangerfield actually be going better than we thought?

Just a question.

Is 2025 an elite season for Dangerfield? I hope so, because otherwise we know from your previous pronouncements on such things it cannot elevate him in any GOAT conversation.

Well as a comparison with a veteran you were familiar with, this season has been better than any of Dusty's 2021-2024.

-60 goals/goal assists. Higher impact than stat padding on a forward flank.
-4x BOG performances against finalists, including in the prelim final
-40+ coaches votes accumulated against the better teams

He's also fighting for votes and stats in the best or 2nd best team in the comp, rather than the dreadful 2021-2024 Richmond sides. He remains one of our most important players in a contending team. Performing extremely well in finals. This does add to his legacy.
